Learning Behaviors on the Report Card
Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, you will notice a minor modification to your child’s report card.
To align with changes recently made to HCPSS Policy 8010: Grading and Reporting, the PreK-5 Learning Behaviors section of the report card will be modified. Parents and guardians can review a full description and learn more about the changes here
Visitors in the Building
Lunch is a very popular time for parents/grandparents to come and eat with their student(s). All visitors are required to sign in and have a valid ID. The office is able to sign in those visiting the cafeteria between 11:00 and 2:00. Parents can bring a sibling to lunch. However, siblings are not permitted to be at recess or in classrooms during the school day.
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten is mandatory in Maryland, so if your child turns 5 by September 1, 2019, you must register your child for the 2019-20 school year. Parents or guardians are to register students at the school serving the address where the child’s parent or guardian resides. Information on neighborhood schools can be found through School Locator on the school system web site or by calling the Public Information Office at 410-313-6682.The following documents are needed for registration:
- Child’s evidence of birth
- An authorized record of immunizations
- Proof of residency in the form of a signed lease or deed and a current utility bill
- Photo ID of parent/guardian
- Proof of custody (if applicable)
Please visit https://www.hcpss.org/enroll/kindergarten/ to view important information about registering your student. You can also find a complete list of documents required for registration. If you have any questions about Kindergarten Registration, please call Lisbon Elementary at 410-313-5506.
The online registration for the 2019-2020 school year is available online! Please click here to complete the on-line registration. Make sure to register for the 2019-2020 school year.
Parents must still visit the school to complete the registration.
Please call the front office at 410-313-5506 to make an appointment to register your child for Kindergarten and/or to complete the online registration.
If you have a child currently attending an HCPSS PreK program, there is no need to re-register your student for Kindergarten.
If you are a multi-family enrollment, please email our PPW, Farah Evans at farah_evans@hcpss.org for an appointment. Both host and guest must attend the appointment.

Bushy Park Regional Early Childhood Center
Learning Together Program – Prekindergarten
The Bushy Park Regional Early Childhood Center (RECC) preschool and pre-kindergarten programs are making preparations for classes for the 2019-2020 school year. These classes include children with and without disabilities. The program’s focus is helping all children develop communication, literacy, math, problem solving, motor, and social skills. Parents of children who will be 3 or 4 by September 1st may contact Katie Hereth at Bushy Park Elementary for an application package beginning February 15, 2019. At this time, there are a few available 4-year-old learning together peer spots for the 2019-2020 school year.
The Howard County Public School System continues to offer a Pre-Kindergarten program for income eligible children who will be four years old by September 1. This program is also at Bushy Park RECC in the afternoon 5 days a week. Please contact Katie Hereth at 410-313-5500 for additional information and an application.
All Learning Together Peer applications must be returned by the last Friday in March 2019. A limited number of openings are available for children without disabilities. Children are selected based upon screening information given on the application form and the “Ages and Stages Questionnaire,” as well as observations of the child’s participation in a playgroup on April 5, 2019 from 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m. at Bushy Park RECC. If necessary, a lottery process is conducted.
If you have any questions, please contact Katie Hereth at (410) 313-5500.
