"Keep away from people who belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great."

-Mark Twain

It's Oscar season at PCS...the awards ceremonies start this Wednesday. Throughout my career, I have struggled with the idea of honoring students. I was taught that I should not reward students for behavior that I EXPECT from them, but I know as a parent the feeling of pride you have when you see your child earn an honor. The key word there is EARN. What do our students earn? What qualities do they possess that will help them excel when their education here is complete? I do not believe that "every child deserves a trophy" but I want us to acknowledge every student who deserves it.

On another note, what an exciting time for our district. It will be a relief when this bond election is over, but it will be such a game-changer if it passes (don't want to jinx it). Please see my post below about the 21st century classroom and start to picture what yours will look like. Then let's talk.

Classroom Tech

Mr. Engler and I have had several discussions in the last few weeks about our technology plan going forward. I want each of you to start thinking about what your "21st Century Classroom" will look like. We know that there is no one-size-fits-all device that can be utilized district-wide, so we want to hear from you what hardware, software, resources, and training will push this district forward. Please feel free to share with your colleagues and myself any ideas you are thinking about.
