Robotics Event was a BLAST!
Micro:bits👾 & FinchBot 🤖Robots were a HUGE hit! The event was jam packed with cool learning from Black Gold's very own Mr. Darren Maltais.
Our students unleashed the power of technology and creativity with Micro:bits to code FinchBot Robots! In this hands-on activity, they had an opportunity to code and bring their robots to life through a series of engaging challenges.
Thanks to our awesome Home Based staff: Mrs. Kniesel, Mrs. Gilchrist, Mrs. Hay, and Mrs. Shaikh for organizing!

November Activities
Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed by Canadians and other members of the Commonwealth since the end of the First World War in order to remember all those who have fought and died in the line of duty to keep us free. Every year on November 11, Canadians pause in a moment of silence to honour and remember more than 2 million Canadians who have served, and continue to serve, Canada during times of war, conflict, and peace. If we do not remember, their sacrifice is meaningless.
Looking for ways to participate in the Act of Remembrance?
The Legion’s website can help you:
Watch the National Ceremony live
Find a Local Ceremony
Wear your poppy
Observe 2 minute of silence
Veterans’ Week Learning Resources (free) link
Included below are a few videos about Remembrance Day. Try to draw your BEST poppies by watching the video and then maybe you will want to enter the Poster Contest? All info is included below!
Remembrance Day Poster Contest
Participants are challenged to exercise their artistic ability to create a poster on the theme of Remembrance.
Winning entries at the Legion Branch level move forward to the Legion’s Provincial level contests. Finalists are then forwarded to the Legion National Foundation in Ottawa to be judged at the national level.
The First-Place entries are displayed at the Canadian War Museum from November to October of the following year. The entries winning Second-Place and Third Place are displayed in the foyer of the Parliament Buildings during the annual Remembrance period in November. Work will be returned to the artists through The Royal Canadian Legion, National Headquarters at the end of the display period.
