Welcome February, Roskruge Pumas!
This is a short month with a ton of exciting activities and learning going on. As we start out this month we would like to acknowledge and thank Ms. Grunloh for all her hard work. This week is National School Counselor’s Week and although we appreciate her all the time, this is a specific time to recognize her for all that she does for Roskruge students, parents, and staff!
We will be having a book fair this week and Parent/Teacher Conferences. Students will be able to shop the book fair before/after school and during their lunches. Book fair hours will be from 8:30-4:15 Monday the 5th- Wednesday the 7th, and then 8:30-1:00 pm on Thursday the 8th and Friday the 9th. Students can come before school, at lunch and after school.
Please remember that Thursday and Friday of this week are early dismissal days and students will be released early for Parent/Teacher Conferences. If you have not heard from your child’s teacher/s, please email them, or call the office so we can get a message to them to set up a time. If you are concerned with waiting, it may be better to contact your child’s teacher to schedule a time that works for you. Please keep in mind, not all students are seen during this round of conferences as teachers may select students based on specific criteria.
With Valentine’s Day coming up, we know students are excited to bring gifts to friends. Please touch base with your child’s teacher to see the criteria for any class celebrations. Students that receive large or distracting gifts such as flowers, balloons, stuffed animals, etc. will have to leave them in the office until the end of the day.
With us being in second semester we begin to plan for activities such as dances, Puma Day, etc. Please have a talk with your child regarding behavior. We have been making announcements every morning that students with behavior referrals, excessive detentions, suspensions (in or out of school), etc. will not be able to take part in these activities.
Last, please revisit the cell phone/electronics and dress code policies with your children.
Respectfully,
Maricella Carranza
Roskruge Principal
¡Bienvenidos a enero, Roskruge Pumas!

Respetuosamente,

Book Fair/ Feria de Libros
Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. AND—as always—every purchase at the Fair benefits our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the big event, which will take place from Monday, February 5 - Friday, February 9 at Roskruge Library.
Say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Book Fair online. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Every online purchase will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping.
Public Displays of Affection/ Demostraciones de Afecto
We care about our students and love that they care about each too, however we do not want to see public displays of affection on campus. We know that hugs happen and that's great, but excessively holding each other, kissing, etc are not permitted. This is an issue we are seeing more and more with middle school and our primary students are seeing this as well. Please speak with your student about appropriate behavior school.

If you will be walking your child to class or visiting the class for any reason even if it is just to drop something off quickly after 9:15 am you must sign in at the office and get a visitors pass.
Also, please wait outside at dismissal to pick up your child. If you will be coming in to get them prior to dismissal, you must sign in.
Although, this may feel like an inconvenience it is to ensure everyone’s safety here on campus.
