The Halogens consist of: Fluorine(F), Chlorine(Cl), Bromine(Br), Iodine(I), and Astatine(At). They are non-metallic and toxic. The word Halogen actually means "salt-former". When they are reactive, salt is what they form.

Some Halogens are essential to the human body's functions and are used in everyday products.

Fluorine can be used in: toothpaste, baby formulas, and public water.

Chlorine is .15 of the human body weight. Bromine and chlorine are used a lot for disinfectants.
