Benchmark Testing Tips for Success
Students have worked hard this year and have many skills to demonstrate on these two days. We are confident your students are well prepared and ready to give it 100%. A few tips to maximize your son and/or daughter(s) success are…
- Students should arrive on time. Please do your best to make sure there are not any conflicts with out of school appointments on these days for your student.
- Get a good night’s rest in order to feel alert and ready to focus.
- Eat a healthy breakfast either at home or at school.
- Have a positive send off for your student in the am. Students should feel supported by you as well as confident that they are prepared. We know some nerves are typical and healthy. Again we will assure students that all the hard work until this point of the year is their preparation.
We want to remind parents and students that on testing day all cell phones and/or electronics including smart watches must be turned in to teachers during the test for test security reasons. Cell phones will be taken care of and returned as soon as testing has concluded. We understand students have phones for various reasons and just want to encourage them to follow procedure and turn them in. Thanks in advance for reminding your student to do so.
If you have any questions please reach out to your child's teacher.
Spotlight on LEarning
Learning @ Prestwick
This week third grade was busy! Students not only visited and shared science knowledge with 8th graders upstairs, but they also shared their recent magazine writings with seventh graders. When asked what they thought of the seventh graders, one third grade student stated, "They were very nice," and another student thought they were helpful! Great connections!
In first grade students were sharing their learning with their families about their observations of rocks by making See-saw videos with their i-Pads and utilizing learning spaces to have student interact with the learning. While in 6th grade science, some students worked through a PBL to design ways to refresh 8th graders about their knowledge of cells. In kindergarten, student are using graphic organizers to write stories with first, next and lat last transition words.
We had about 15 LEHS Seniors visit our campus this week to help out! One student even got a surprise by his brother coming! Thank you LEHS for building the connections to our students!
Staff Spotlight
This weeks staff spotlight is 4th grade ELAR teacher, Mrs. Crystal Sosebee. Mrs. Sosebee is born and raised in Springdale, Arkansas but has recently moved to Texas to join the PSA team. Mrs. Sosebee earned her degree in Early Education from Arkansas Tech University and has 8 years of teaching experience.
Mrs. Sosebee absolutely enjoys 4th grade and loves teaching reading and writing, “It only takes one book, to open their eyes to the wonderful world of reading. I love seeing students writing improve and how creative they can be in thier writing.”
PSA would also like to share some exciting news, Mrs. Sosebee is expecting her first child, baby boy Ridley. Ridley is expected to arrive mid-February but may have other plans to come at any moment. When Mrs. Sosebee is not preparing for baby Ridley, she enjoys spending time with her family and exploring the DFW area. PSA is glad to welcome and have Mrs. Sosebee apart of the PSA family!
