A MESSAGE FROM MRS. MOLITOR
The story for this month is: The Colors of Us by Karen Katz
Seven-year-old Lena is going to paint a picture of herself. She wants to use brown paint for her skin. But when she and her mother take a walk through the neighborhood, Lena learns that brown comes in many different shades.
Through the eyes of a little girl who begins to see her familiar world in a new way, this book celebrates the differences and similarities that connect all people.
Karen Katz created this book for her daughter, Lena, whom she and her husband adopted from Guatemala six years ago.
I hope you enjoy it, and always remember to :
Be Safe
Be Responsible
Be Respectful

ELEMENTARY DISTANCE LEARNING ATTENDANCE GUIDE
Thank you for your support this year as have we navigated hybrid learning and now have moved into distance learning. We are so grateful for the time we had with our students in hybrid learning and look forward to the day when we can “turn the dial” and get back to it.
We have put together a distance-learning plan that we would like to share with you. This has been sent home as a paper copy with your child(ren) a few weeks ago and also via email. Please view this plan for more details.
Please use the link below if you need the information translated.
Thank you for your continued partnership to support your students during distance learning.

CALL YOUR SCHOOL IF YOUR CHILD CONTRACTS COVID-19
PLSAS continues to track lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 amongst students and staff. It is important to call your child’s school - even while in Distance Learning - if your student is diagnosed with COVID-19. Doing this will allow us to continue to look at our local district data and not have to rely solely on Scott County COVID-19 case rates when determining learning models. As cases in our county and school district decrease, the sooner we will be able to get back to in-person learning.
MDH COVID 19 DECISION TREE
This document was developed by the Minnesota Department of Health for Schools, Youth & Child Care Programs to use as a guide for Covid-19 exposure & decision processes. We encourage you to reference it to better understand the protocols we're following.
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation.

FOR FAMILIES: APPLICATION FOR EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS
You can help generate state aid for our school by completing the Application for Educational Benefits. Parents and Guardians can submit meal applications by logging into SchoolCafe. To download printable applications, please access the following links:
Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Application (English)
Parents and guardians may also pick up a paper application at the District Services Center (DSC) at 4540 Tower St SE, Prior Lake, MN, 55372. DSC office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Students in households that meet the free or reduced-price meal income guidelines will generate compensatory revenue for their school. Schools must use compensatory revenue to meet the needs of students who are behind their peers, such as remedial instruction, instructional materials including digital learning and technology, bilingual programs and additional teachers and teacher aides.
Each household must complete the online form, no later than December 15 so the school can calculate eligibility and report to the MN Dept. of Education. This will not impact your student’s eligibility to receive free meals during the 2020-21 school year.
SCHOLAR SQUAD- FREE READING & MATH TUTORING
Free Reading & Math Tutoring from Scholar Squad
Let’s face it. COVID-19 has made everything challenging this year, especially learning. Reading Corps and Math Corps have launched a new initiative to help! Scholar Squad offers one-on-one, online tutoring for Minnesota students in PreK-8th grade, and it’s easy to get started.
Visit ScholarSquad.org to request help for your child. A literacy or math coach will be in touch to set up a time to learn more about your child and conduct a short screening. If the screening shows your child could use extra help to boost their skills, you’ll be matched with a tutor who will provide one-on-one practice and support.
Powered by AmeriCorps, tutoring is provided at no cost to families.

TOY DRIVE
A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR PTC!!
PTC CORNER
Thank you Glendale families for all who participated in helping provide goodie bags for staff during fall conferences. We were able to provide 50 extremely full goodie bags packed with sweet, salty, minty and healthy treats along with beverages. Staff were extremely appreciative and so are we!!
As we shift into the distance learning module, we were also able to support teachers with document cameras and headsets to use while teaching. These items should benefit both teachers and students during this season!
Planning is beginning for our large spring fundraising event. If you are interested in being a part of the planning process, please reach out to PTC President Elizabeth Soucoup (elizabethsoucoup@gmail.com), we'd love to have parents be involved!
Also, be sure to add Teresa's Mexican Restaurant Night to your calendar for Dec 8th. Let's take a night off of cooking and support our local restaurants!!
