Mindfulness: Let's Talk About Zen Teaching
I found this book called "The Zen Teacher" on Amazon this summer and started reading it. It was really helpful and I decided that I really wanted to share it with other teachers. I'm including several resources here: The Zen Teacher's blog, podcast interviews, and a video. I hope that there is enough information here for you to decide if you are interested in the book or not.
Dan Tricarico, author of "The Zen Teacher" talking about back to school self care:
What do I hope we will get out of reading this book?
Overcome Teacher Isolation
Avoid Burnout
Focus on Well-Being
Give Yourself Permission to Put Your Own Oxygen Mask on First
Reduce Stress
For me, mindfulness meditation is like dieting or exercising- I fall off the wagon a lot. I get too busy with work and kids and house projects and teacher projects and I don't make the time for it. The funny thing is, just like diet and exercise, when I am strong in my mindfulness practice, I feel better and am more productive as a result. In the same way that having a support group or workout partner helps us to stick to those healthy habits, I'm hoping that this book group will support each other in our journey towards becoming zen teachers..
