News From the Nest
Week of March 8- March 12 , 2021
Message from Principal Honohan
Please consider being courteous to our neighbors who reside in the houses along Falcon Drive and the side streets. There have been afternoons where parents are parking cars in residents' yards and /or blocking driveways. I ask you to continue to respect their wishes as neighbors close to our wonderful school.
Remember Friday March 12th is a Student Holiday/Teacher Workday.
Thank you,
Trevor Honohan

Character Lab Winter Research Activities
At OCPS, student social and emotional well-being is a pillar of the district-wide 2025 Strategic Plan. To support this objective, OCPS has partnered with Character Lab since 2017, a nonprofit co-founded and led by Dr. Angela Duckworth, scientist, author, and professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania.Character Lab connects schools to leading researchers with shared interests to generate insights about developing the character strengths (like gratitude, curiosity, and growth mindset) that help all children thrive.
Our school will participate in 30 minutes of research activities. Students complete these online, interactive activities individually on their school laptops, with a teacher available to support them. The Audubon Park School K8 will use data from these activities to identify and support the social, emotional, academic, and physical needs of our students. Participation in Character Lab activities is voluntary, and families may choose to opt their child out of participating. To learn more, visitocps.net/clab.
Congratulations to 8th graders, Jonah and Brayden for representing APSK8 in All County Band

2021 Yearbook News
Miss picture day? Need a few more days to place your student dedication ad? Still want to reserve a copy of this year's book? This is for you!
Parents,
We are working hard to capture the amazing moments of this unique year on the pages of our 2021 yearbook.
We realize that our current situation caused some of you to miss the two picture days we had on campus.
We want to make sure you are included in our book, so as an exception this year only, we are allowing you to submit your own portrait photo of your child.
To submit a portrait photo, please click the button below and follow the directions you see on the Google form. There is a sample portrait photo on the form. Portraits should be of your child's head and shoulders on a plain background.
Photos will be accepted through Friday, March 12. We will be unable to accept photos after that date, so please don't delay.
