- Take this Technology Survey (from District Tech. Committee)...click here.
- Jan. 22-23: Winter Carnival 'Sculpture Creating Time': I am asking each class to TRY to fill plastic containers/balloons/whatever you wish to make ice chunks then build them/stack them together outside along either side of the front doors in the snow by the building. You will see a cart in the lounge to bring in and collect recycled containers that could work to freeze with water in them as well as photos of what we will 'try' to create out front. Use tempera paint in water to color the ice before you freeze it. I will ask maintenance to bring over a snow blower to build us a little path through the snow on Tuesday or Wednesday. I have paint sticks too if folks wanna make lil fabric flags or something to stick in snow along our 'creations' too. For now: Bring in any large plastic recyclables, take and test out any balloons, and bring in some bright colored fabric scraps. Add em to the cart in the lounge.

Staff Notes:
- Winter Testing is OVER! I don't even know what else to say about it. It's easy to reflect and evaluate after all the hiccups; but the best news is that it's over and the kids were actually pretty pumped (and knew what scores and #'s meant and were 'into it')! Our score aren't always what we want. Some are way higher. Some shock us and bomb it. Some just don't care. Some kids spend 4+ hours! Our tech. doesn't always work. Our lack of training (in me and now the fearless Karen Borg) can only get better {but I'm blaming it all on our new hire, Beckie who was going to be our proctor}. Our feakouts and whoopsies will get fixed. I challenge you to find joy in celebrating what you've worked so hard for all year - to see if kids are learning!? To see what else you can adjust in your lessons/planning?! Thank goodness for our IT guys (Matt & Joe) who have provided 207 laptops to use all the time now....and to everyone who helped login/relogin/reset/proctor/take breaks - THANK YOU! It was stressful {super stressful} for all. Just know next week is a new, great week (and only 3 days +1 work/training day!)
- Winter Carnival 2020: Feel free to get involved however you can or just know what's going on. We are planning to do our 'sculpture viewing' walk/bus rides on Feb. 3, 4, & 5 (you will sign up for a slot, if you wish) and each class will be challenged to show our 'giving spirit' to help pick up trash as we walk and look at sculptures...'Take Care of Our Place {our Community}. It will be a great way to celebrate their filled up Eagle Eye box AND GIVE BACK! Here is the schedule of events. Here is the Sculpture Map. And watch out for Janna drumming and me a dancing in that crazy Samba section of the parade! Woot woot!
- iPads & laptop TEACH-TO's: Please teach a lesson to your students how to ALWAYS leave the headphones on the cart or with each cart device...ie. if you take a cart, the headphone tub on top stays with it OR if you take a laptop OR an iPad from a cart - take the headphone set to go with it from the top tub (because these headphones were all bought to go with those machines). Teach kids to read the bottom and be sure devices go back into the correct cart AND slot. Teach them how to plug them in. The newest devices have to be turned to plug in from the bottom (that's why the cords are so short). AND most of all, on laptops, teach the kids to ALWAYS 'log out' when they are done. Carts should be plugged in daily or at least at night. The East Computer Lab now has 3 carts available for checkout. The Loper/Stanley Lab has a set of laptops that STAY in that room as well.
- 2nd Observations: Many of you love to get these out of the way. If you are doing some fun, crazy, or just want me to come observe for a specific lesson/time, send me your date/time and I'll see if I can make it work. Otherwise, just know I have started walking into rooms and doing the final #2 round of observations!
- Science 20-21: The district is on track to adopt a new science curriculum for the 20-21 school year. Here are the links for more information on the two 'being considered' programs: Caroline: www.carolina.com/bbs3dreview and STEMscopes: https://n11060d147375.acceleratelearning.com/login UserID: PickDavi2 Password: science
Look at our BLOOMERS!
- Sara A. who goes the extra mile to build character, positive thinking and confidence in our students
- Karen B. who gets the award for logging in all 207 laptops for every test session and just taking on a whole lot of new learning with us and these winter benchmarks!
- Michelle & Jamie's teams, Jenn's team, Sara & Carissa's teams for creating awesome 'small groups' with all the testing supports in place to make it calm and successful for our kiddos.
- Shanna's team who is showing great flexibility when kids are arriving to lunch 'off schedule/late'...(and yes, I know we can do better getting them all there on time to prevent back ups).
- Lisa, Crystal, Janna, Christine, Julia, Melissa, Karen H & Karen B., & Peggy for their endless supports at lunch recess...you ladies have it dialed in and are so positive with the kids and solving problems left and right before the problems enter back inside! So awesome to watch!
- and I'm sneaking this one in as she thinks she can hide it...but you need to snoop out any news updates on Miss Sara's Christmas Vacation.....LOVE is in the air!
