Red Oak Students are Winning!!!

Our students are second to none. The Lady Hawks Volleyball Team has wrapped up first place in district with a record of 34-4 overall and 12-1 in district play. They are incredible. The Mighty Hawk Band got straight 1s at the UIL Marching Contest at Kincaide Field in Dallas ISD on October 19, 2017. The UIL Area Marching Contest will be at Mesquite Memorial Stadium this Saturday, October 28, 2017. Five bands will advance from there. The Red Oak Tennis Team is rockin it on the court. They have advanced to the Regional Quarterfinals where they will take on Lake Ridge @ Duncanville H.S. on October 24, 2017 at 3:00 pm. Senior Zach Heimbuch advanced to the Region 2 Cross Country Meet. He ran hard and finished with a time of 17:44. This is just a small snapshot of the awesome things going on in Hawk Nation!!!!

Student ID Badges

Believe it or not, wearing your ID Badge is a big deal. We have had people walk onto our campus without checking-in. Luckily, we were able to quickly identify them because they couldn't present an ID, and they were escorted off the premises. All students and staff need to wear their ID Badges everyday. These badges need to be visible. Many businesses have these same policies and procedures. Please remind your kiddo to wear their badge. Hassle them if you have to! We need to see it!!! It's a safety issue.

Attendance for Credit

Attendance in the state of Texas is crazy!!! It's tough for educators to keep up with. I imagine it is even tougher for parents that don't work in schools on a daily basis. Attendance is broken up into two subcategories (if you will). One category pertains to truancy. Absences fit into this category if a student amasses several absences that are unexcused. Students and their families can be required to attend court because of truancy and pay fines. The second category is attendance for credit. The state of Texas mandates that all students must be in attendance for at least 90% of the days school is offered. If students miss too much school (excused or unexcused) schools are required to work with families and provide make-up days for those students. At this point in the semester, if a student has 5 or more absences (excused or unexcused) he or she will be required to attend Saturday School or After School Detention. Administrators are currently reaching out to students and their families to provide this time so that no student loses credit because of attendance issues.
