Happy December

How crazy and fun has this last week been?!?! Spring Premiere and seeing all the new styles and prints; wrapping up holiday orders; working hard to make a plan for Ready, Set, Sell in January and so much more! So much going on I almost can’t think straight! But now the “holiday rush” is over so we can just sit back and relax for the next 3 weeks, right?

Wrong!! Just because ordering will slow down for the rest of the month doesn’t mean your business has to! Now is a GREAT time to turn your focus from parties and orders to really GROWING your business! And what’s the first step to doing that?

Customers!!! I hear so many of you say that you really want to see your business take off, but you’ve already asked everyone you can think of to order or host a party and no one is interested. So what do you do when you’ve already asked everyone you know?

Start asking people you don’t know! Yes, you read that right—ask people you don’t know! You know all of those extra catalogs and mini-catalogs you have left from this season that you didn’t think you’d use after January? Here’s a great use for them:

If they’re not already labeled, make some labels with your name and contact information to put on all of your leftover catalogs. Put a handful of them in your purse and keep the rest in your car (don’t leave them at home where it’s easy to forget to grab more when you run out!). Then, wherever you go this week, pass them out!!

Now I know what you’re thinking...“Who do I give them to??”

EVERYONE!!!! When you go into the...
 grocery store, Walmart, dollar store—give it to the cashier
 bank—send it in the tube
 gas station—give it to the clerk
 library—give it to the lady checking you out
 doctor—leave some for the staff
 work—leave in the bathrooms, break rooms, etc. (if your company allows it)  restaurants—give one to your server or attach a mini to your bill

“Yeah, but what do I say?”

You’re not going to believe how simple it is—just 6 words... “May I leave this with you?”
That’s it!! No long monologue necessary...just a simple question. Then she’ll probably say, “What is it?”

And you’ll say (with enthusiasm!), “I sell purses! This is our catalog/mini catalog and a $5 coupon for you (coupon optional)! This catalog is getting ready to expire, but we have so much great stuff coming next season, so if you like what you see in this one, you’ll LOVE what’s in our Spring Catalog!”

If she seems interested at all, continue: “If you write your name and email down, I can add you to my monthly newsletter, and you’ll be the first to see all the new products!” (A great way to remind yourself to do this is to put a post-it note on the front of each mini catalog.)

And that’s it! A great way to get your name out there in front of more potential customers (and an easy way to get rid of those catalogs and minis that you would have otherwise just thrown away)! There’s no telling how many of them may find some things they like and place an order or find so many things they love that they decide to host a party!

Here’s my challenge to you:

Let’s make it a fun little “scavenger hunt”! During the next week, use this method and approach as many strangers as you can to tell them about your business. After you’ve given them your catalog and gotten their information, tell them you’re on a scavenger hunt and need to take a picture with them. Post your pictures on our Dream Team Facebook page—everyone who posts at least 3 pictures will be entered into a drawing for a free Thirty-One t-shirt from me!

You only have until December 20th so get those catalogs labelled and start passing them out!! Wishing you all the merriest of Christmas's and the happiest of new years!
