Sycamore Composts Day
Composting diverts organic waste from landfills, saves tax dollars by reducing waste hauling costs, creates a valuable resource that improves the soil, helps teach students to respect the environment, and promotes a culture of responsible waste management.
Let's celebrate Sycamore Composts Day with a no-waste lunch on Friday, September 21! To participate, please pack your child's lunch in reusable containers on September 21 (next Friday). All leftover food items can be composted, with nothing left at the end to throw away. Thank you for contributing in this way to the Sycamore Green Initiative!
A note from Visual Art
Welcome/Welcome back! My name is Gina Bush and I am the visual art teacher at Blue Ash Elementary. This is my 18th year teaching art, my 6th at BAE. I work with all students at Blue Ash on a 4 day rotation. We see each other, throughout the year, about 45 times. Throughout the year students explore a variety of media, learn about other cultures through their art, and continue to develop both gross and fine motor skills. Students are encouraged to: experiment, imagine, problem solve, FAIL and then try again, and again. The process is the important part, (and the hard part, at times); the product is the fun part. And lastly, the art room is the natural habitat of the imagination...here, creativity cannot be avoided!
Students will bring home drawings from time to time, or “free time” creations. The majority of their art stays at school throughout the year. At the end of April/beginning of May, students create a portfolio to safely carry all of their artwork home.
If you have any questions, my email is bushg@sycamoreschools.org

Active Aves Fall Session
Active Aves is a fun recess running program at Blue Ash Elementary. We are so excited to kick off the Fall Session for the 2018/19 school year! The children can't wait to get involved with Active Aves again in a few short weeks!
The program will be every Tuesday and Thursday starting September 18th through October 25th, only when outdoor recess is occurring. Volunteers are needed to help cheer on the kids, punch lap cards and hand out prizes. The children love this running program so much, as do the volunteers!
Each shift will have two spots available. First and Second Grade recess 11:45am-12:30pm. Third and Fourth Grade recess 12:45pm-1:30pm.
To sign up, please visit http://bit.ly/2Nw8Raf or email stephaniesheard@hotmail.com. If no available shifts remain, please feel free to come, as we can always use an extra set of hands. You are also welcome to walk or run laps with the children.
Thanks in advance for your time and energy, so we can provide this great activity for our kids!
