Brooks Crossing & Deans School Newsletter - 4/30/19
Message from Joe Anzek, Interim Principal
Well, that was fast! Tests, clubs, meetings and more. I have been getting to know your kids and enjoying my meetings with them during my first month here. I'm encouraging good sportsmanship and energetic play on the playground: more running and less imitating their professional sports heroes. They're doing really well.
The testing process is operating smoothly. Mrs. Rogol, the teachers and students make a strong team. The students are responding well to the testing.
Especially at this time of year it's important to review calendar info in this newsletter and in the Friday Folder. Testing info, holidays and early release days make this month and next a little tricky.
Be aware of the TOUR de SOUTH BRUNSWICK Bicycle Ride Fundraiser coming up on Sunday, June 9. There are three different ride distances, a variety of entry fees and starting times. This will be a great opportunity for a fun family event and it raises money for the School District and for Brooks and Deans specifically!! See Participation Challenge Rules below. We'll be sending information home. See this Tour de South Brunswick Informational Flyer for details on route choices. The registration website is EDFOUNDATIONSB.ORG .
Foundation FUN WALK The Education Foundation's Fun Walk is also held on Sunday, June 9th at 11:00am and is another opportunity to support the Education Foundation, while enjoying family time on a 2-mile stroll on the SB High School Campus! Pre-registration is only $5 ($10 day of event). Last day for On-line Pre-Registration and Discount is Monday, June 3, 2019
South Brunswick District schools can earn grants for their Physical Education department based on their participation level in the Education Foundation's Fun Walk & the Tour de South Brunswick. During registration you can select BROOKS CROSSING SCHOOL to receive a grant. A school can be selected for each registered walker or TdSB participant. CLICK HERE FOR PARTICIPATION CHALLENGE RULES

Message from the Brooks Crossing/Deans Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
WE NEED YOU!!! The PTO has an open position for Co-Vice President Fundraising. If you, or someone you know, would like to be considered for this position, please complete and submit the PTO EXECUTIVE BOARD NOMINATION FORM no later than Friday, May 3rd. Only with the dedication of our Executive Board, combined with our amazing parent volunteers, can we have a successful Parent Teacher Organization that supports our entire BC/DE school community.
All nomination forms should be returned by Friday, May 3rd, in a sealed envelope labeled: Confidential - Attention PTO Nomination Committee
Our very popular PTO PLANT SALE will be held on FRIDAY, MAY 10th, just in time for Mother's Day! Students have the opportunity during school hours to buy plants not just for mom's, but for anyone else who is special in their life! Plants are reasonably priced and funds should be sent to school in a sealed envelope, clearly labeled with; Student's FULL Name, Teacher's Name and "PLANT SALE".
Did you know the PTO has used funds we've raised to offset the parent's cost of many of our grade level field trips? Did you also know the PTO purchased four large 10 person picnic tables, one being American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant, for our BC students to enjoy outside learning opportunities and activities with their class? These are just two examples of the many ways we support BC/DE. Many do not realize that without our PTO, funding would not be available to help offset costs or purchase items that can enhance our children's learning experience!
Each membership we receive, and every dollar we raise, supports our BC/DE school community! There is much we do to support all students and staff, and memberships are a very important resource for us to meet these goals. Since family memberships are only $10 per family, please consider joining your PTO each school year and support our fundraising efforts. Your support and generosity is very much appreciated!
PTO memberships are always becoming accepted and members receive discounts for many of our PTO family events held throughout the school year! If you would like more information on becoming a member or to volunteer, please email: BrooksCrossingPTO@gmail.com.
Be sure to read the Brooks Crossing/Deans Online Friday Folder weekly for upcoming PTO events! Go to https://bcde.sbschools.org/school_information/friday_folders.
