Lucy's Library Blast
December 17, 2018
Book Club will meet on Thursday at 8:00 am
We will be discussing O'Henry's story, The Gift of the Magi, while making Holiday crafts. It is the ultimate Christmas story. Read it if you aren't familiar with it. It is a short story.
We normally don't meet in December but with getting out later than usual, we just can't get enough of the Book Club!
Our next book, which the kids will read over the break, is Ghost by Jason Reynolds to coincide with the field trip to see the Nashville Children's Theater production in January.

You're invited to stop by the library TODAY between 2:30 - 4:00ish to meet Molly!
Molly is an emotional therapy dog who will be coming to West End to visit the library each week. Molly has an outstanding history for helping students and in the community deal with trauma. Her handler, Ron, has many stories of Molly's good work after natural and man-made disasters. She will be coming to West End for any reason needed but her home base will be the library where students can read to her any book they want for 10 - 15 minutes or so. I know each of you has a student or two who can use time for companionship, comfort, encouragement, and improving reading skills. She is also starting at Hillsboro High School in their library. I encourage you to have at least one person from your grade stop by to meet Molly and Ron.
Holiday Activity and Book Check Out
The library will be busy with scheduled Holiday Activities this week. Please know that all day Monday, 1st and 4th periods Tuesday, all day Wednesday, 1st and 4th periods Thursday will be a filled with busy elves. Please call ahead before sending your students to the library.
On the other hand, I will be checking out books during all the free times for students to keep over the break. I know most librarians don't but for the one or two books that may be left at grandma's, the other hundred or so read are worth taking the chance. Besides, there's SNOW better time for reading!
