Bellipanni's Thoughts
I'm sure you would all agree that spring break was a much needed time to refresh, reset, and reassess. This week, for me, was a lot of cleaning and doing stuff around the house, some reading and A LOT of thinking and wondering. I mean, what else has there really been to do? (And oh yeah, lots and lots of social media.) I've missed my family and friends. I've missed my gym. I've missed being able to go wherever, whenever. It goes without saying that I've missed all of you and our students.
So back to social media.....I'm sure we've all laughed at the homeschool memes and the new found appreciation for teacher memes, the "Tiger King" memes, and the plentiful pandemic memes that (hopefully) make you laugh at our current situation. There are so many!! One thing I've seen a ton of on social media, and maybe you have too, are the various things that different schools, principals and teachers are doing. It's easy to get in the mindset that "if I'm not/we're not doing X, Y or Z then I/we must not be doing a good job." It's easy to get caught up in comparing ourselves to others and with social media there are so many "others".....not just locally or in Mississippi, but all over the country. Social media, while it can sometimes be very positive, can also do a good job of making us feel like we are inadequate. Do not fall into that trap. You are enough and you are doing a great job. Keep providing relevant, meaningful work for your students and keep making yourselves available to guide students and answer questions as needed. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not saying we should be complacent and stop growing, but I am saying, do not let social media be your compass. Also, don't be scared to try new things. This is definitely a time when we are all learning and growing both professionally and personally. We are going to get to the other side of all this and when we do we will all be better educators because of it.

We Still Need Your Help!
We will still be providing students with a nutritious lunch and breakfast daily. We need your help to pass out lunches at school, but more importantly on our delivery routes from 10:30AM to 1:00PM. We need two people per bus each day. This is a great way for you to see your students and for them to see you! Please click here to sign up to help deliver and distribute meals to our students.
UPDATE: Thank you to all who have helped so far!! The spreadsheet has been updated with new sign-up dates. We still need your help to deliver and distribute lunches. Keep in mind a lot of our students live in DeLisle. The buses are not just for DES students.
