WHAT IS ZONI BEACH KNOWN FOR?
The beach is known for it's very large and strong waves, it's white sand, and the volcanic rock. it also has very clear/ blue water and mountains.
SAND COLOR & ORIGIN
Zoni Beach has white sand, with limestone and volcanic rock alternating with alluvial deposits and mangrove shorelines. It's made of sedimentary rock created by volcanic origin.
TYPE OF BEACH- Emergent
Zoni Beach is emergent since its a primary coast. With all the volcanic activity, the lava builds up and causes a rise in sea-levels.
TYPE OF BEACH- Primary
Zoni beach, and Puerto Rico were created by volcanic forces, causing it to be a primary coast instead of secondary. A primary coast means that it was created by non-marine processes. Such as volcanic, crustal movement, and deposition/erosion by rivers/glaciers/wind.
LOCATION
Zoni Beach is located in a named Puerto Ricoan unincorporated territory of the United States, located in the northeastern Caribbean, east of the Dominican Republic and west of both the U.S. Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. The latitude and longitude of Zoni Beach is 18-18'24" N and 065-14'40" W
TYPE OF BEACH- Active
Since Zoni Beach is located closer to the Caribbean plate boundary, it's an active coast. Na active coast means there are volcanoes and possible earth quakes.
