Build Skills Every Day

Little interactions every day can add up to a BIG foundation for learning.

  • Talk: Winter is the perfect season to practice colors. Find something bright and shiny and hold it close for your baby to admire.
  • Sing: Take a drive and admire colorful lights! Sing your favorite songs as you go!
  • Read: Curl up warm and snuggly, and enjoy a winter picture book!
  • Write: Decorating cookies is a fun and delicious way to practice fine motor skills. Finger-frosted cookies are especially yummy!
  • Play: Put a mystery object inside a stocking or a winter hat. Ask your little one to reach inside and tell you what they feel. Is it round or square? Soft or hard? Bumpy or smooth? Then let your child put in a mystery object for you!

Dolly Parton Imagination Library

Thanks to Dolly Parton and other generous donors, every child under the age of five living in Coos County is eligible to receive a free book every month in the mail! Do you have a child/children under five? Do you live in Coos County? Fill out this registration form and turn it in to your local public library. Then get your bookshelf ready!

Go Ahead... Sing!

Tune: London Bridges

Snowflakes falling through the air,

On my face, on my hair.

Even on my teddy bear!

It is snowing!

Wear your jacket and your hat.

You'll be warm, just like that.

Make a snowman, big and fat!

It is snowing!
