Dr. Nicole M. Martin Podcast
Standards-based literacy and disciplinary literacy are two ways to increase reading achievement. Click here to listen to our #INspirEDlit conversation featuring Ball State University’s Dr. Nicole Martin. Her focus is disciplinary literacy. If you are interested in learning more about the difference between disciplinary literacy and content literacy, check out this article from the International Literacy Association.
Want to meet Dr. Martin and learn more? Join us at the Indiana Book Festival on June 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. where she will be speaking and sharing her love of reading! The Indiana Book Festival is at Minnetrista located at 1200 N Minnetrista Pkwy in Muncie, Indiana. Register here.
Community Spotlight: The educators who contributed to the literacy framework
Over 200 Indiana educators came together to create resources for over 400 literacy standards. We are in awe of their hard work and dedication. This work will impact all Indiana educators and students. We could not have done it without this input and level of commitment.
If you were unable to participate, we look forward to opportunities for collaboration in the future.

"I’m excited to join the Department as the Pre-K Expansion Specialist. I’ve worked with young children for 19 years. I'm passionate about helping stakeholders understand the importance of early education in a child’s life, to help our community understand what high quality early education looks like, and to advocate that every child has access to affordable high quality early education. Along with the literacy team, I support literacy practices for children around the state."
