Mental Health Awareness Week
Mental Health Awareness Week will be 10/16-23rd! The main goal of this week is to increase awareness of the various resources that students may utilize for help, as well as reduce the associated stigmas. The week will includes events such as Frank Warren from Post Secret speaking at Bailey Hall on Friday 10/16 at 8 pm, a Greek tri-council #StompOutStigma photo campaign on Ho Plaza from 1-4 on 10/17, and "Dining with Diverse Minds" with VP Ryan Lombardi on 10/23. Participating organizations include: IFC, PHC, MGLC, Cornell Minds Matter, ALANA, Haven, Athlete Ally, Class Councils, SAAC, Cayuga's Watchers, Tatkon Center, CUPB, CU Tonight, and Student Assembly. Events throughout the week range from catered dinners to yoga events. Wednesday 10/21 is a collaborative "Lift Your Spirits' event on the Arts Quad, with 20+ organizations co-sponsoring. We seek to de-stigmatize mental health resources and help students realize that in struggle, you are not alone, and it is important to reach out for help.
Dear Kappa Deltas,
Did you know that recent studies show that 1 in 5 women in college are sexually assaulted during their freshman year, and that 95% of these assaults go unreported? These numbers are staggering, and are reaching epidemic proportions on U.S college campuses.
You can join us on October 18, 2015 at 9am (before chapter) for SToPP 5k walk/run in Robison Disc Golf Course. SToPP (Stop, Think, Protect your Peers) is sponsored by the New Agenda Foundation to raise awareness of, and work towards ending, the epidemic of sexual assault on campus. Let’s walk and run together to heighten the awareness of this issue in the Cornell Community!
