Student assemblies on emergency protocols

In a follow-up to Superintendent Monteiro's March 17 memo to Swansea Public Schools families, Joseph Case High School will host four class assemblies on Monday and Tuesday, March 28-29. Students will be apprised of updates to safety protocols in advance of practicing an intruder in the building drill in the coming weeks. Part of the additional protocols include evacuating the building to emergency areas and barricading room entrances when situations warrant these responses. Students will have an opportunity to ask question during the assemblies as well as debrief in groups after the drill. All drills will be conducted locally in conjunction with Swansea Police and Fire.

The assemblies will be as follows:

Monday, March 28

Grade 12: 8:30-8:50 a.m.

Grade 11: 9:20-9:44 a.m.

Tuesday, March 29

Grade 10: 8:30-8:50 a.m.

Grade 9: 9:20-9:44 a.m.

Teachers should plan accordingly and consider instruction in the second half of the period when assemblies will be held during the first part. Announcements will be made before students will come the the auditorium as a class with their teachers.
