Sycamore In Sixty: Master Facility Planning
Our Master Facility Planning Steering Committee continues to evaluate an extensive list of options based on the feedback we received from the community this past Spring. The Board of Education will use the Fall to narrow it down to three options to present to the community. We will begin Concept Testing with staff, students, families, and the community in January 2019 before a final recommendation is made to the Board.
Among the findings from the 347 respondents to our community engagement surveys:
- 92% believe that it is important to update classrooms to accommodate modern learning methods.
- 72% believe E.H. Greene Intermediate should be replaced.
- 87% believe Sycamore Junior High should be replaced.
- 73% believe Sycamore High School should be renovated.
Conclusions from our Educational Visioning meetings:
- Our facilities must be practical, flexible for future trends, and respectful of sound fiscal practices.
- Our facilities must support the instruction of the skills and the delivery of programming our students require for them to reach their full potential.
- Our facilities must embrace programming strategies that recognize the uniqueness of each learner, equipping them for success in an ever-changing world.

Game Day Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up
There are some important changes families need to know about student drop-off and pick-up for all home games this season. Due to safety reasons, the circle drive in front of Sycamore Junior High School will now be the designated drop-off/pick-up location for students.
Families dropping off students should enter at the main entrance to the junior high at Cooper and Delray Ln. Vehicles will be allowed to exit right or left at the easternmost exit onto Cooper Road. We have attached a map that outlines the new traffic flow. There will be police officers and signage along Cooper Road to help assist you.
If you are parking for the game, drivers should enter at the bus compound entrance. Guests with disabilities may still be dropped off and picked up at the entrance to Sycamore Stadium by entering the bus compound lot. As a reminder, backpacks, footballs, and outside beverages are not allowed inside Sycamore Stadium.
We look forward to another safe and fun season of Aves Football!
