Longhorn Stampede

2018-19: Leading the Herd (1)

Big picture

Welcome Back, Longhorns!

Lone Star Families,
Please read all the way through to the end of this newsletter. It contains an exciting piece of information just for you!

We can't wait to see your smiling faces at Meet the Teacher this week! Remember that if you will be walking your child to class on the first day, you will want to drop your license off so we can run your V-soft sticker while you walk around. Pick up your tag on the way out, and you will be able to skip the long line on Day 1!

Walking your children back:
Any/Every Day - All parents may walk to the Hug&Kiss zone in the foyer, and children will continue past the hallway doors on their own (We always have staff in the hallways to help!)
Day 1 (August 21) - All grades; parents must have visitor sticker
Days 1-3 (August 21, 22, 23) PK and Kdg; parents must check in at front desk and get visitor sticker
Days 1-5 (August 21, 22, 23, 24, 27) PK; parents must check in at front desk and get visitor sticker

Thank you! This helps us ensure that staff attention is focused on children and safe protocols are in practice.

Meet Your 1st Grade Teacher: Mrs. Morris, room 120

Did you know I have been in first grade for 16 years? That’s a long time to be in first grade, but I love it and I know you will too. Since graduating from Texas A&M University in 1999 I have had the pleasure of teaching first and second grades, as well as reading and math intervention for third graders. This will be my 20th year of teaching. I know the 20th year will be the best one yet!

When I am not spending time with my school family I am at home with my husband and two children. Mr. Morris is a Captain with Beaumont Fire Rescue. My daughter Emily is 13 and my son Jacob is 11. They are both students at Montgomery Junior High. Our favorite thing to do is travel across the United States pulling our travel trailer. We have a goal to visit as many National Parks as we can before Emily and Jacob graduate from high school. We have visited 17 over the last 3 years. I am sure you will hear more about my family and our travels this year!

I cannot wait to get this year started. It’s going to be a great adventure!

Parents, please feel free to email a picture of your child and a few sentences about them to your child's teacher in response.
