Dear Westwood Families,
We are excited to share this Special Edition of the Westwood Wire to introduce you all virtually to our wonderful Westwood teachers and the excellent work being done. The Westwood Junior High Virtual Open House link can be found below. As we continue to build strong relationships with your students, we also value our partnership and collaboration with you to ensure a sense of belonging and acceptance for all students and responsibility for maintaining our collective safety and high quality learning environments. Please review the updated RISD Blueprint as district senior leadership is working closely with state and local officials to revise and update our protocols and responses as things continue to change very rapidly.
We are excited to be celebrating the Richardson High School Homecoming and Parade which will begin at 4pm on Friday September 10th. In order for our students and families to participate, Westwood Junior High will release at 2pm on Friday September 10th and the bell schedule can be found below. Busses will be here at 2pm to take students home.
As I mentioned in the August 22nd edition of the Westwood Wire, the PTA General Meeting scheduled for Wednesday September 15th 5:30-6pm, will now be virtual. After serious review, thought and guidance, the decision has been made to cancel the Parent Teacher Meet and Greet scheduled the same evening. Our collaboration with you is imperative in the success of your students and teachers are expected to reach out with any concerns as well as with positive messages. We welcome Zoom and phone conferences with teachers upon your request and look forward to getting to know your students even better this year.
The faculty and staff at Westwood are enjoying getting to know your students and ready to see them connect, learn, grow and succeed at Westwood Junior High. If you have any questions please let us know. We are excited to begin the 2021-2022 school year!

A Message from PTA
Join the PTA
PTA provides opportunities to meet with others who have the same interests as you. By sharing common concerns, you will feel more empowered. Being part of PTA connects families and schools and results in parental support and makes school involvement easier.
PTA also provides educational opportunities. From local-level parent education meetings to the Texas PTA Annual Convention, PTA encourages learning and the sharing of accomplishments, interests and concerns.
Ultimately, PTA provides the opportunity to serve, to volunteer and to contribute to the welfare of all children, because children represent our future.
Join the Westwood PTA for only $5. Your student can receive up to 4 homework passes for joining!
