Back to School

Getting back to the classroom
As our summer comes to an end, those of us who work in the education world are looking at the calendar in anticipation, and maybe a little sadness. Some might be very eager to start the new year, and for others, it may bring a bit of sadness that the summer is ending, and early mornings are beckoning us once more. The end of summer blues can be challenging and some find themselves filled with anxiety. Let’s face it, this year is pretty unusual. It is totally normal to feel stressed and worried! It’s what you do with it that matters. This week, let’s look at how to get ready for our return- to-school, and beat those blues. We will also look at how to relieve our stress by planning, eating and sleeping well, exercising, and breathing!
Keeping the Happy Memories Alive
The summer is almost over, but that doesn’t mean we have to forget all about the fun we had. Collect photos, make a journal, email your fun stories to yourself. Keep the happiness alive and fresh.
Schedule, schedule, schedule!
School is not the only thing starting back up, next week. Take time to write out everything you need to do each day, so nothing is overlooked. This is a great way to reach your children organizational skills, by having them write their activities on the family calendar, and writing out their own obligations, on their own schedule. Sit together as a family for the first few weeks, so everyone learns the value of being organized.
A Routine Reminder!
The first week back to school can be overwhelming. The more prepared you are each evening, before the new day, the less stress you add to your day.
Sleep!
It is so important to get sleep the first week, yet we can be so nervous, excited or just unused to going to bed early, that we struggle to fall asleep, and then struggle to wake up the next day! Click the link above to read some suggestions for getting back to a regular sleep schedule.
Try using some of the activities posted on my website, below, to help your children get to sleep at a regular time.
