- ACA Reminders
Any per-diem employee hired with the facility expectation that the new employee will work 30 or more hours a week must be offered ACA compliant medical coverage upon hire (3 month new hire waiting period applies).
---Destiny clients can indicate this type of new hire on the New Hire Spreadsheet with a TN/ACA designation. For job status changes (an existing employee moving from FT or PT to per-diem w/30 or more expected weekly scheduled hours moving forward), please email your assigned Benefits Specialist with those status change details.
---For PS clients, simply open a case to Benefits Administration in Shared Services!
Other ACA reminders... the ACA compliant rate is honored for 12 months after the employee has elected the ACA medical coverage, regardless of another job status change or reduction in hours worked. Facilities may not adjust any “premium in-lieu” pay rate provided for a Non-Benefits-Eligible employee based on whether or not they accept/enroll in the ACA medical coverage.
Dependent Eligibility...
Due to the recent update in spouse eligibility rules for facilities outside of Florida, copies of driver's licenses for the employee and their spouse are no longer being asked for/required when an employee enrolls their spouse in coverage. If you still have this documentation requirement referenced in any of your new hire communication, please don't forget to edit those communication pieces!
