Last Day of School Is Monday June 27th

Monday, June 27th is the last day of school. It is a FULL DAY.

A Message From Mrs. O'Shaughnessy

Well, here we are, the last day of the 2021-2022 School Year! This past year has been one that perhaps brought the most challenges, but definitely brought the most rewards! After exiting the building on March 13, 2020, ALL OF OUR STUDENTS RETURNED IN SEPTEMBER 2021! Once we got them back in the building, we all created opportunities for our students to thrive. It was a year that was filled with challenges, successes, laughter, tears, fear and confidence, and most importantly, filled with support. I consider myself blessed to work alongside of the best staff in NYC. Each and every one of the PS 88Q faculty have worked harder than ever, prioritized our students, created opportunities and access for them all and most importantly made PS 88Q the place it is. We all felt that loneliness of working in isolation, and as a community, we leaned on each other. Our students thrived in their academics, but also found other opportunities to "step into" who they are.

  • Our Student Council took office.
  • Our actors and actresses took the stage,
  • Our musicians were able to play shoulder to shoulder with other students.
  • Our artists created beautiful works of art while learning about prominent artists,
  • Our engineers learned hands on STEAM activities, even creating on our 3D printers
  • Our authors created books
  • Our entire school became dancers, Thank you to Mr. E!
  • Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders became Chess Players
  • Our Cooking Club met weekly in our own kitchen to prepare delicious and healthy food
  • Our multi-language learners met other students who are learning and spent Saturdays together with our amazing staff and resident artist from Creative Art Works
  • Our students had the opportunity to spend after school with our amazing teachers and related service providers getting extra support
  • And of course our amazing CBO Greater Ridgewood Youth Council provided our students with an amazing after school experience.

There is so much learning going on everyday in many ways. Next year we have so many more ideas on how to support each and every one of our scholars!

Congratulations Mr. Santaniello, Ms. Glass and Ms. Williams

This school year, we said goodbye and are saying goodbye to three amazing people. During the school year, Ms. Glass and Ms. Williams retired, and now, Mr. Santaniello has decided to retire. These three amazing people have been an asset to PS 88Q for many years, but now it is time for them to prioritize them! The impact they have made in so many of our students, as well as staff is immeasurable, but they are always part of PS 88Q! Good Luck!

Congratulations to Ms. Corniel and Ms. Kaplan

Ms. Corniel and Ms. Kaplan have been granted tenure in the New York City Public School System. This is not an easy task! To be eligible for tenure, you must show exemplary practices and impact. These two educators have done just that! We are so blessed to have them at PS 88Q
