Amanda Moore Elementary School
June 2017 Chalkboard News
Letter from Mr. Bennett
Another outstanding school year is rapidly coming to a close. I am so proud of the academic achievements of all our students. The growth of our students, especially in math and reading, is a testament to the hard work of all our students, staff and parents.
In addition to academic achievements, this school year was filled with fun activities and events. I want to specifically thank our outstanding PTO. Without the hard work and dedication of Mrs. Bentley, Mrs. Ahrens, Mrs. Elter, Mrs. Price, Mrs. Merrit, Mrs. Lentine and Mrs. Bell, many events and activities would not have occurred. Thank you to all the parents and community members who donated time and/or money this school year to enhance the education and experiences of the students at Amanda Moore.
Our playground initiative is going strong! The fundraising efforts this school year have resulted in the purchase of a new play structure, which we are working on the details of getting installed over the summer. I would like to thank all parents who have donated time and money to this initiative. I would especially like to thank the founding members of this initiative; Mrs. Ahrens, Mrs. Buchanan, Mrs. Craffey, Mrs. Ericson, Mrs. Lentine, Mrs. Lombardo, Mrs. Minton, Mrs. Rinke, Mrs. Scally, Mrs. Siracoff, and Mrs. Thomas.
Bond Construction Update: As most of you are aware, Amanda Moore Elementary School is part of the first phase of our bond construction. Our main office is being relocated to the current art room, the current art room is being relocated to room 115 and the current main office is being converted to a conference room. For these changes to occur, demolition will begin Monday, June 12. Ms. LoGrasso and I will be here through Friday, June 23. Due to the demolition, Mrs. LoGrasso and I will be working out of room 121 for the last two weeks. All of our phone numbers will be the same even though we will be located in room 121. If you need to come to Amanda Moore during that two week period, we ask that you use door #4. Door #4 is visible from the parking lot and is located alongside the staff entrance. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we transition to our new space thanks to the voters of this great community.
Sincerely,
Roger Bennett
Principal
Empowering ALL students to succeed!

All families will be receiving a letter in late July/early August with instructions on how to update and verify their child’s information. This information is used for emergency situations, therefore, it is extremely important that these updates be completed prior to the start of the school year. Please look for the letter to arrive by early August and feel free to contact the school office if you have any questions.
Green School Environmental Tip
Earth Friendly Landscaping
When landscaping your yard, you can protect your kids, pets, and the environment from harm. Use pesticides sparingly. Put mulch around trees and plants. Water your lawn only when it needs it and choose plants native to Michigan. Once established, they will tolerate dry weather and resist disease.
