Polser Principal Points

Polser STEM Academy - December 9th - December 13th, 2019

What's Happening this Week?

All,

Thank you to everyone who was able to come to Rockfish and enjoy our All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast on Saturday! I appreciate all of our PTA volunteers, teachers, and Santa volunteering their time to serve at this event during this busy time of year.

On Tuesday, December 10th, we have our Annual Fireside Reading during grade level specials. We have many special guest readers! Staff and students are invited to wear their pajamas and slippers to school that day. Please make sure you bring appropriate shoes for recess.

On Thursday, December 12th, we have our PTA General Meeting and Choir/2nd Grade Performance from 6:00-7:00 p.m. We will have the Silver Wings on hand in the gym to help with our Polser children during the General Meeting. Our musical performances will follow the General Meeting.

Winter Parties are Wednesday, December 18th; see schedule below for your students grade level party time.

Please remember that you must have a car tag to walk up and pick up your child or receive your child in the pickup line after school. Those without car tags will be asked to park and/or walk in and check-in the office to ensure you are recorded in Skyward for pickup. We are doing this for the safety of our students and appreciate your cooperation. Additional car tags are available in the front office. We have also added a few additional signs to encourage cars to pull forward to to the STOP HERE and NO LEFT TURN during the hours of 7:15-7:45 a.m. and 3:00-3:45 p.m. Left turns backup our traffic as cars are trying to pull into our front drive and again we appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Have a wonderful week,

Mrs. Phelps

Staff Spotlight

Cathlin Shahriary, 4th Grade ELAR

I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a B.S. in elementary education and a minor in Spanish education (yes, I'm bilingual even though I don't look it). I taught 1st grade for two years in Prescott Valley, Arizona before moving to Texas. I've taught bilingual 4th grade, dual 4th & 5th grade (English side and 50/50 self contained) in Irving for 6 years and at Southridge ES for 6 years for a combined total of 14 years of teaching. I'm super excited to be working with you all and with STEM this year! I live in Flower Mound with my husband and furbabies (1 dog and 2 cats). I also foster cats with Humane Tomorrow. Most of my family is back in Arizona so I try to visit Flagstaff every other month now that my husband works with American Airlines. I read constantly and write books on the side. I love making reading and writing enjoyable for my students and creating lifelong learners (especially turning non-readers into book lovers).
