First Grade 2015-2016
Note From the Teacher
This was a great week back in 1st grade! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving Break! In Reading, we worked on finding key details in fiction books. In Writing, we reviewed the components of narrative writing for our writing benchmark next week. In Math, we took our Unit 4 Big Idea 1 Post Assessment. We also began comparing numbers with greater than, less than, and equal to symbols. In Science, we continued learning about maps and even used a map around the school to find a surprise. We found our way to the cafeteria, where Mrs. Ipock read a story to us!
PTO is excited to be hosting Jenny's Penguin Patch Holiday Shoppe the week of December 14th-18th. Students will be able to bring money to purchase and wrap gifts for the special people in their lives to place under the tree for the holidays. A letter and special envelope will be coming home with your child next week with more information.
Winter parties are coming up on Tuesday, December 22nd!

PBIS Update
The purpose of the PBIS program is to teach and encourage positive behavior. One way we do this is through our student signature lanyards. Students have the opportunity to earn signatures throughout the year by making positive behavior choices. Students can trade in signatures for smaller rewards or save up to redeem for larger rewards. This month students who have saved 100 signatures had the choice to participate in a Christmas Campout Signature Celebration. During this celebration, students will enjoy grilled hot dogs, a special ice cream treat, and a Christmas movie. We are excited to celebrate positive choices with these students! This celebration will be on December 18th. Please look for an email with the details IF your child cashed in for this reward.
