St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 1 | 13 OCTOBER 2022

From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back everyone to the start of Term 4.
I hope that everyone had a restful break and enjoyed the holidays. However, I am quite sure there are a number of families who are now enjoying some peace and quiet at home during school hours.
We have certainly hit the ground running with school Photos starting on Tuesday
and a number of events coming up over the next three weeks.
Thank you to the P&F for the wonderful finish to Term 3 with the whole school Colour Run. It was such a great community-building initiative, with parents, students and staff having fun and raising money for our new Art Mural outside the Library. Thank you to all the parents involved who contributed to the day being such a great memory for our students.
For those who might be not be aware, Fr Casey passed away recently and there will be a
Requiem Mass for him on Monday, 24 October.
Fr Casey was a significant part of our school history as he was the Parish Priest at St Columba’s for thirty two years. To honour his commitment to our Parish and School, our Year 6 students have been asked by Monsignor O’Loughlin to form an Honour Guard for his coffin as it leaves the Church. The students have agreed to provide the Honour Guard for his coffin. Thank you to the year 6 families for agreeing to this.
Next week is very exciting week for our Year 6 students who will be attending Camp at Fair Bridge Farm in Pinjarra. I am sure that they will have a great time and I would like to thank the staff and parents who will be supervising the students over the three days.
God Bless and keep safe.
Allen McMahon
Principal

We will hold an “information session” for volunteers at the Como Hotel on Wednesday, 19 October @ 6.30pm.
Changing of the Guard
The 2022 Camp Out marks a transition point for a number of Dads with kids in Year 6 leaving St Columba’s. We would love to hear from Dad’s who will take the reins of “Dads of St Columba’s”, specifically the legend that is Camp Out in 2023 and years to come.
Whilst COVID has kept us quiet in recent times, previous years we have organised golf days, cricket in the park, drinks on the iconic Paddle Steamer Decoy and a session or two at the Como Hotel.
2022 presents as a great opportunity to partner with you to handover and set future years up for success.
Regards,
Todd Dawson
