Butler Creek Bulletin
December 3rd
Notes From Principal Laura Fendall
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! It was great to see so many of you during conferences. Thank you for taking the time to come and meet with your child's teacher.
It feels like winter out there! Thank you for sending your children to school with coats, hats and gloves. Unless the temperature, (with wind chill) is below freezing, we will be going outside. Our recesses are short and children need fresh air and movement in their day.
Here is the news for December-
Take care,
Laura
Attendance Matters
During conferences teachers shared information regarding attendance. Lots of families received celebration letters congratulating them on their child's good attendance. Many families received "nudge" letters letting you know your child's attendance is slipping from where we would like it to be. Research is clear good attendance has a big impact on learning and success in school. There can be many challenges in getting children to school on time. Please let us know if we can help. Our goal is to have 95% or better attendance school wide at Butler Creek!
PTA Breakfast with Santa and Book Fair
Come join us this Saturday, December 7th from 9:00-11:00 at Butler Creek for the PTA's "Breakfast with Santa" and Book Fair event. Come in your PJ's and have breakfast, pictures with Santa, craft activities for the children. Check out the details on the Butler Creek PTA Facebook page.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedure Update
Thanks for everyone's cooperation with following the traffic flow expectations at arrival and dismissal! With your help, traffic is moving more smoothly and quickly. Here are a few reminders:
Arrival
Please pull all the way up to the "Stop" line or behind the next car before releasing students. Release students from the car only when your vehicle is next to the curb. Please do not release children into the parking lot or away from the curb.
Dismissal
If you walk to pick up students, please wait on the west side of the school away from the front doors and off the sidewalk. This will allow classes to move to the buses and into the pick up lines.
Butler Road Four Way Stop
We now have 2 adult crossing guards for arrival and dismissal. This has helped traffic flow and safety for students and families. Traffic at the four way stop can be slow and congested. Please remember to obey the crossing guards and only pull into the intersection if you know you can complete the turn. We hope everyone can be patient and make safety the number one priority. Thanks for everyone's help with this!
Centennial Facilities Presentation 12/11 at PTA Meeting

It's important for everyone to become informed and involved with this issue. Please come next Wednesday at 6:30pm
