Walker Mill’s vision statement is to create an environment that nurtures student creativity and academic excellence.
Mission Statement
Our Mission at Walker Mill Middle School is to nurture student creativity through quality, rigorous instruction and empower these lifelong learners who will contribute to our ever-growing global community. This will be accomplished through the system of a complete community. The Complete Community includes students, a dedicated staff, involved parents, student supports and community outreach.

We have come to the final three weeks of school! In order to prepare our families for next year, we have scheduled Moving Up family meetings. (No pre-registration required)

The last two days of school, June 22, 2022, and June 23, 2022, are both two-hour early dismissal days. Students will be dismissed at 2:10 pm.

Uniforms
Walker Mill is a mandatory school uniform school. 6th graders wear hunter green polos, 7th grade where burgundy polos and 8th grade wear navy blue polos. All students wear Khaki bottoms. The updated 2021-2022 detailed student dress code is located on the school website. Please ensure all garments must be in good condition and distressed and/or hole free. Earrings should be no larger than a quarter. Headbands are permitted but students are not allowed to wear headbands that protrude (for example but not limited to: cat ears, tiara, etc). We appreciate parents’ help with upholding our dress code.

SCHOOL HOURS
Our school day is 9:30 am to 4:10 pm. Any student arriving after 9:40 am should report to the office with documentation to receive a late slip to give to their first MOD teacher. Parents/Guardians arriving to pick students up for early departures must arrive no later than 3:45 pm, students will not be released after this time. In addition, students will not be released to any individual NOT listed in school max. Please login to school max to check the contacts list and email swatts@pgcps.org to update.

Summer Opportunities
Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science (GEMS)
GEMS’ mission is to interest young people, who might not otherwise give serious thought to becoming scientists or engineers, in STEM careers early enough that they have the time to attain the appropriate academic training. The program is based on a multi-disciplinary educational curriculum, and is focused on age and grade-appropriate hands-on activities, in areas such as science, engineering, mathematics, computational sciences, computational biology, biomedical sciences, chemistry and biology.

Career Explorers Summer Camp
Free to rising ninth- and tenth-graders, the four-day Career Explorers summer camp offers hands-on activities, assistance with matching career goals and interests and provides more information about Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
Applications are accepted on a first-come basis until program seats are filled.
This year’s camp will be held June 27-30 at Crossland High School from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Please be sure that your student's immunizations are current for the upcoming school year. Students who are not in compliance within 20 days of the start of the school year run the risk of being withdrawn from school until records are provided. We are a 1 to 1 School. Each student is assigned a PGPCS device for educational purposes
School issued laptops are the responsibility of the student to transport to and from school.
Any damage to a device, can be charged up to $250 to replace
Students should charge their device at home before coming to school.

All cell phones and personal electronic devices (PEDs) must be powered off and put away during the school day, except when permission is given by a teacher or administrator to use for instructional purposes.
Students may not listen to music, text, make phone calls, play games, or take photos or videos at school, except under certain circumstances where permission may be granted by administration.
Parents, please do not call or text your student during the school day. If you need to speak to your student, please call the main office and we will allow your student to come to the office to take the call.
