STUDENT COUNCIL FOOD DRIVE

Congratulations to Mrs. Shinner's 8th grade class for donating the most food items to the Student Council Food Drive and earning a Spirit Award trophy!

Thank you, Classical families, for the many donations. As a school we collected 3186 items, which is a new record! The items were picked up by St. Joe's Food Pantry and were much appreciated.

HEALTH SERVICES NEWSLETTER

HAND WASHING CAN SAVE LIVES!

Keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. It is best to wash your hands with soap and clean running water for 20 seconds. However, if soap and clean water are not available, use an alcohol-based product to clean your hands. Alcohol-based hand rubs significantly reduce the number of germs on skin and are fast acting.

When washing hands with soap and water:

● Wet your hands with clean running water and apply soap. Use warm water if it is available.

● Rub hands together to make a lather and scrub all surfaces.

● Continue rubbing hands for 20 seconds. Need a timer? Imagine singing "Happy Birthday" twice to a friend!

● Rinse hands well under running water

● Dry your hands using a paper towel or air dryer. If possible, use your paper towel to turn off the faucet

Remember: If soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based gel to clean hands.

When using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer:

● Apply product to the palm of one hand

● Rub hands together

● Rub the product over all surfaces of hands and fingers until hands are dry.

When should you wash your hands?

● Before preparing or eating food

● After going to the bathroom

● After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has gone to the bathroom

● Before and after tending to someone who is sick

● After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing

● After handling an animal or animal waste

● After handling garbage

● Before and after treating a cut or wound

OUTERWEAR PLEASE

As the weather turns colder, please be sure to send your student with the appropriate clothing for outdoor recess. We will continue to have all recesses outside unless it is raining or the wind chill falls below the safe levels. Students should have coats, gloves, hats, mittens, scarves, boots, and snow pants for recesses. To play in the snow, students in grades K-3 must wear snow pants.

STAFF MEMBERS' FAVORITE THINGS

As the holiday season begins, families ask for suggestions for special treats or gifts to give teachers and other staff members. To make this easier for families, we have asked staff members to fill out a list of favorite treats, hobbies, and interests, etc. This list can be found on the Welcome Center where visitors sign in. Please no phone calls/emails to the school office regarding the lists. Thank you!

FUNDRAISING CORNER

The Classical Charter School Association (CCSA) is a Wisconsin non-profit 501(c)(03) organization. The CCSA is a contracting entity with AASD to operate Classical School. The funds in the Classical Charter School Association, Inc., have been used for various purposes.

The CCSA board would like to encourage you to consider a gift to the CCSA, Inc., in your charitable giving this year. Checks can be made to Classical Charter School Association. We are grateful for your gifts and promise you the best stewardship of your gifts to the Classical Charter School, Inc. Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season!

WINTER ATHLETIC TEAMS (7TH & 8TH GRADE)

The wrestling and girls' basketball seasons will begin soon! See important information below regarding dates and requirements to participate.

All potential players MUST have an updated physical or alternate year physical form on file in the Classical School office prior to the first practice. You can pick up those forms in the Classical School office or the website http://classicalcharter.com: Current families>Resources>Forms.

Students will not be able to practice unless you have the proper forms turned in to the Classical School office before practice starts.

You can find more information about the Einstein/Classical athletics program on the district website or by calling the Einstein office. Coaches update the sport webpage closer to the start of the season. Please see the link below to the sport webpage: http://sites.google.com/a/aasd.k12.wi.us/gorshe-s-lockerroom/home

NEWSWORTHY ODDS & ENDS

Are you looking for some good stocking stuffer ideas? Markers, glue, glue sticks, pens, pencils, and any other school supply consumables are just a few suggestions. With the restart of the school year in January, it is a good time to check the status of your child's school supplies. Teachers always appreciate extra boxes of tissues during the end of the cold season as well.

Thank you!

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION

Thank you to all volunteers who help out in the classrooms each week. The time you volunteer in the classroom is always appreciated but especially during this busy holiday month!
