Friends' Update
Greetings
Hello everyone,
What a great start to the week we have had with our Egg Decorating Competition. We would like to thank the Mayor of Ripon, Cllr Eamon Parkin, for judging the competition. We would also like to thank Morrisons Ripon Community Champion for their donation towards our prizes for the event.

Egg Decorating Competition
We would like to thank all the children who took part in the Egg Decorating Competition this year (and the parents who helped). All the entries were amazing and Cllr Eamon Parkin said each and everyone deserve a round of applause.
He came to school to judge the competition and said the standard was higher than 3 years ago when he last came to the event. He found it very hard to pick the winners and even picked a few extra winners.

Come and Join the Friends
The Friends of Cathedral Primary School is the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Our aim is to create a positive input to the school by fundraising for specific equipment and experiences that can't be provided in the everyday running of the school.
We also provide a social element for all the children and parents of the school, running fun activities throughout the school calendar such as discos and Easter Events, Duck Races, Quiz Nights and Christmas and Summer Fairs.
It's all go with the Friends as we welcome everyone's support and input - please speak to any of the existing committee members if you would like to get involved!!
To help bring in new members we asked our Friends of present and past some questions.
The first question we asked was: What have they enjoyed about being a member of the Friends?
“The social aspect, meeting new people and making friends.”
“Helping a good cause that benefits my children and all the other children.”
“Meeting other parents, learning more about school and having fun creating events.”
“Meeting new parents from across the school and having a good giggle at the events.”
“Meeting new parents and forming friendships through school life.”
Secondly, we asked: How has easy has it been, being a part of the Friends?
“So easy, I just turned up to a meeting and got stuck in.”
“It’s flexible, you can be involved as much or as little as you’re able, and work it around other commitments.”
“Very easy- the Friends' team have always been very inviting, accepting and appreciative of new members.”
“Easy to get involved and able to contribute as much or as little as I want to.”
“Develop skills for work and confidence in event organising - including how to pull a great pint!”
Lastly, we asked: Why should others join the Friends?
“Feeling part of the school community and working together to provide extra equipment and activities for all our children such as forest school and iPads.”
“It's great fun, it helps your school community and your kids love having a parent as a Friend.”
“A chance to learn more about school, support the school and get involved with fun events. Plus, your own children benefit from your involvement.”
“It’s fun, great way to meet new people, and a chance to learn news skills if you want.”
“My daughter loves the fact I’m involved with her school. So, while she takes pride in that, I’ll do it. It won’t be long till I’m embarrassing.”
If after reading these comments you think you would like to be a member of the Friends please come along to our AGM. If you can’t make the meeting but would like to still be a member please message us on our Facebook, email us at: rcpsfriends@gmail.com OR find one of us in the playground and we can speak with you about being a member.
Come along to our next meeting - Monday 16th May, 7pm at Claro Lounge.
Have an amazing week everyone!
