Attendance policy and the importance of attendance.
Our school day begins at 9:10 a.m. and ends at 4:07 p.m. If your child will be late or absent, please call the Oxbow 24-hour attendance line at 248-684-8074 by 9:15 a.m. If we do not hear from you, you will receive a phone call from our Skylert system and your student will be marked unexcused. If your student is at a doctor appointment please provide a doctor note to the office. We want to make sure all our students are safe and accounted for every day and appreciate your support. Academics as well as social interaction, building positive relationships with school staff, and developing a connection with the school community are essential to your child's overall development. Therefore, supporting your child's attendance is crucial to their success. Parents play an important role in ensuring that their child maintains a good record for punctuality and attendance. Thank you for your partnership as we work together, to make a positive difference in the success of your child!
We have added a fantastic Sensory Path at Oxbow! Thank you to our parent, Mrs. Williams of Lake House Life Creations. She donated this wonderful sensory tool along with her time putting it it place!
Attention Dad's, Grandpa's, and other Father Figures! Please see the attached flier to volunteer here at Oxbow!

Supporting Students During W.I.N. Time
In addition to classroom instruction, students receive support in a variety of ways. The first and most important level of support is provided by the classroom teacher to students within the classroom. The second level of support is provided by the classroom teacher or our intervention team to students. This support is provided during W.I.N (What I Need) time. W.I.N. time is scheduled in grade level blocks during the day when core classroom instruction is not being delivered. Students receiving support do not miss key lessons. Instruction during this time is focused on individual student needs.
Our intervention team meets with classroom teachers during the year at Building Intervention Team meetings. Our team meetings are data driven and focus on student progress. Our team plans with teachers to provide targeted support to students during W.I.N time.
Our intervention team supports students during W.I.N 4x per week. Our W.I.N schedule this year is Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Nikki Komisarz is the Early Intervention Specialist/Literacy Coach at Oxbow. The Paraprofessional Intervention Team includes Marie Stader, Caren Zunich, Laura Becker, Kim Long, Lisa McGill, and Christine Baudon (English Language Learner Paraprofessional).
