An technical consultant works in partnership with clients, advising them how to be use information technology in order to meet their business objectives or overcome problems. They work to improve the structure and efficiency of IT systems in various organisations.
Specific and Technical Skills
- The applicant must be PC literate
- Have detailed knowledge of at least of the company's products
- The applicant must also have experiences in the necessary technologies, techniques and tools related to company's products and services to be covered
- A good working knowledge of MS Office applications such as MS Word and MS Excel
Genral Skills
- The applicant must have the ability to understand new technologies and terminology quickly
- The ability to quickly understand and effectively use new applications or tools
- Ability to work from home or the office unsupervised when not visiting customer sites
- Ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships, and quickly gain respect of customers
Attitude and Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills, ability to listen, understand and present clear solutions to problems at a level appropriate to the customer’s knowledge and experience.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
- Flexibility - able to respond to challenging demands and take on additional responsibilities as required
- Planning and organising - able to prioritise personal workload effectively and manage the delivery of tasks to time and budget
- Confidence in dealing with challenging situations, and the ability to work under pressure
