DHS Weekly Update
Thursday, April 20, 2023
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
DHS Community,
We have had a ton of celebrations in our athletics over the past two weeks. See highlights below in this email. We also are celebrating our fine arts department this week with the big Shuler awards tonight (imagine Tony Awards for high school musicals!) and the final weekend of Clue in the DHS Theater. The Career Academy had an extremely successful job fair for their students at the Ebster Gym today. DHS students are well-rounded and excelling at so much!
The Decatur Prevention Initiative is a strong and vital partner to DHS and CSD. They are hosting a very special screening of " Screenagers Under the Influence: Addressing Vaping, Drugs and Alcohol in the Digital Age". This is a premier event for all of Metro Atlanta and because of the work of DPI, they chose us to be their host! See the link below in this email to register. It's FREE!!

DHS Soccer Seasons Come to an End
Congratulations to our girls and boys Varsity soccer teams. Both teams finished their season in the GHSA State Playoffs. The boys’ showed valiant effort against Northgate High School in Round 1. The Bulldogs went down 1-2 in the second half but battled back to score an equalizer late in regulation to send the game to overtime. The game ended 3-2 after a Northgate goal in the second period of OT.
Our girls’ team pulled out a gutsy win against Harris County in Round 1. With less than 10 minutes left and the score tied 0-0, the Bulldogs scored 2 goals to secure the victory and advance to Round 2. The Bulldogs traveled to Greenbriar High School on Monday evening. Greenbriar jumped out to an early 0-3 lead. The Bulldogs fought back to score a goal in the second half but could not close the gap. Final score, 1-3.
Great job to all of our soccer players. Thank you to our Seniors for leading our teams. Special
