Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Character Critique
Character
I chose Kareem Abdul-Jabbar because he has been my favorite baseball player for as long as i can remember and i've always wanted to be like him and looking up to him. Kareem was bullied when he was young because of his size and skin color. Also he played in the NBA for 20 years. Most players by this time either retire or are injured. Kareem never gave up on a play and resulted in the all time scoring champs because of it. Kareem is definitely my favorite ever and my mentor
Values
Kareem's universal value is his determination. Kareem is a great role model for young adult's because he went through discrimination and became the highest scoring basketball player in history. He is a great mentor for young adults not only deciding to follow there dreams and make it to the NBA because he has more values than the average Joe. He is persistent, caring, loving, determined, and brave. All of these values had to deal with the accomplishments in the NBA. I think all people should try to have as many values as they can.
Peer Pressure
Kareem was bullied in school ,but he still went on to be my favorite basketball player of all time. A lot of times he was singled out because of his height and skin color but he never stopped practicing. He went on to be the player with the most points ever in NBA history. When he used to play on the court in the summer time he said, " I was the only black kid quite often, so I always felt that I was a minority of one.". To overcome this and still become the highest scoring player in history is mentor worthy to me.
Citizenship
Kareem has always been active in charity events in raising money for good causes. he has really given back to society which makes him a good citizen. Many people can be stingy and hoard their money to hinder the development of multiple projects that will push us along technologically. Kareem is better than them because he helps charities. One day i too hope to become an amazing citizen just like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
