The union had occupation of areas to grow food
The lose of slave meant they didn't have people to work in the field
Confederate soldier were hungry and running low on food
People in the south had to mob bakery's to get food
Confederate soldiers smuggled cotton into the north to trade for food
The effects of the food shortages
This led to an increase of food prices
Soldiers were hungry and had barly enough food to get by
Mobs of people breaking into bakery's to get food
