COLUMBIA, MISSOURI – (February 13, 2019) - The Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MoASSP) has selected Dr. Krisandra Worley, Principal at Saeger Middle School in the Francis Howell School District, as the 2019 Jim L. King Missouri Middle School Principal of the Year (POY). MoASSP will officially present the award during the annual MoASSP Spring Conference at the Lodge of Four Seasons, Lake Ozark, MO., on Monday, April 1, 2019.
Dr. Worley was awarded this recognition in part because of her ability to implement systems of support for students and staff at Saeger. According to FHSD Superintendent, Dr. Mary Hendricks-Harris, Dr. Worley's greatest attribute is her ability to build relationships. "She is one of the most student-centered leaders I know," comments Dr. Hendricks-Harris. A Saeger Middle School student said the following, "I feel like I'm safe and well supported here because my principal makes me feel welcome and not afraid to ask for assistance whenever I need it."
MoASSP Executive Director, Clark Mershon and MoASSP Program Director, Doug Mirts, announced Worley's award during an all-school assembly. The selection was made from more than 800 middle school principals in Missouri.
Dr. Worley has been a member of the FHSD family for the past 24 years, working as a Spanish teacher, high school assistant principal, high school principal, and in her current role as Saeger’s principal. Dr. Worley earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Maryville University in 2009.
MoASSP sponsors the Jim L. King High School and Middle School POY programs. In the fall of 2017, the MoASSP Board of Directors elected to rename the award after Dr. Jim King. Dr. King was the third Executive Director serving MoASSP for 16 years. MoASSP is proud to recognize administrators statewide for exceptional school leadership.
Dr. Worley will be in the running to represent Missouri in the 2019 National Association of Secondary School Principals' POY program.
