Mount Vesuvius is famous for the eruption that took place in 75 AD. This eruption pretty much took Pompeii off the grid, covering the city in black cloudy ash and smoke, which could not be stopped. Many people of Pompeii tried to take cover in basements and tried to get away on small boats, but only few survived the eruption to tell the gory details of this terrifying event.
