I am designating a 3 week window to complete all student surveys at Tiogue. We want 100% student participation this year. Parents will be given information about the survey in this week's newsletter as well as in other multiple forms (hard copy and listserv).

RICAS Released Items Prep/Practice Gr. 3-5
How: There are a few options on how to do practice items Teachers can project the questions and passages on the board and do a demonstration of how to solve the problems and answer questions together. Teachers should model strategies and think through the problem/solution with the students. Teachers can work with students in small groups, especially with students who need additional explanation and an opportunity to ask clarifying questions. Students can work on problems independently and the teacher can then solve the problem, allowing students to observe solution strategies and the correct responses. Students can be invited to share their strategies with the class, in small groups or with partners. Essay questions may be spread over a number of test prep sessions.
Expectations: The goal is to work through the review during the 8+ weeks leading up to the assessment in April and to do practice problems 3x/week for both ELA and Math. It is our hope that you will not need to spend more than 10-15 minutes for each subject daily and some may take multiple days to complete. The practice problems should be spaced out over 8 weeks; it is NOT advisable to do all the questions in the last few weeks before RICAS. This is not to be given as homework.

PTA Sweetheart Dance will be held on Friday evening of February 7th at the Quidnessett Country Club. See the note from Grade 4 below about our "faculty & staff" basket for their raffle.
The PTA is hosting a Sweetheart Dance on February 7, 202 at the Quidnessett Country Club. They are in need of donated items for raffle baskets. The PTA Board is scouring all local businesses for donations. We will be placing 3 laundry baskets in the faculty room for the Faculty and Staff to donate items. The 3 baskets we are trying to create are a Movie Night Basket, a Baking Basket and a Game Night Basket. We are in need of items to fill the baskets! Stacey, Kristen and I attended the PTA Meeting last night and will be assisting the PTA in getting these baskets together for them.
Items for the baking basket could be: cake mixes, cupcake liners, spatulas, flour, sugar, jimmies, cake pans...... Any item to support a family baking night!!!
Items for the movie basket could include movie passes, popcorn, candy, DVD's anything movie related!!
Items for the game night basket could include any board game, snacks....
They are in need of volunteers to assist them at this event. A sign up sheet will be placed in the faculty room!!
Any questions feel free to see Tara, Stacey or Kristen!!
Thanks so much!!!
