School Goals 2022-2023
- We will continue to provide rigor and opportunity for academic growth to all students in grades 6th - 8th.
Social/Emotional Goal:
- We will support staff and student social and emotional needs and enhance the opportunity for growth in relationships.
Communication Goal:
- We will increase opportunities for family engagement both during the school day and through extra-curricular activities.
Safety Goal:
- We will provide a safe learning environment for staff and students in grades 6th - 8th.

Other 8th Grade End of the Year Events to Look Forward to:
May 17, 2023 – Graduation rehearsal will be held in the afternoon (Class t-shirts will be distributed at this practice).
May 17, 2023 – Parent volunteers are planning the 8th Grade Dance for all students in the evening. This will be held at Zachary’s Red Barn at Konow’s (non-school sponsored event).
May 18, 2023 – All 8th Graders will be invited to a class trip to Great America in Gurnee.
May 19, 2023 – Graduation rehearsal in the morning. (Gowns, tassels, and medals will be distributed at this practice).
May 19, 2023 – Yearbook distribution, signing and pizza party for the 8th Grade Class in the afternoon.

- The memories I love the most in hickory creek was just doing all the assemblies and all the kids getting together and having fun and just soaking in the last year at HCMS.
- I was in mathletes this year and have been throughout my time and Hickory Creek. I loved the club and made great friends in it, but I hadn't had the opportunity to compete in-person due to covid constrictions. However, this year we got to compete at Momence and it was a great time. I got to hang out with friends, solve some math, and take home a first-place trophy.

It was so fun spending one of our last home games celebrating all the great accomplishments we made that volleyball seasons and it was so fun to see everyone's posters hanging up on the wall and seeing the crowd in the stands.

- In ELA, we had an Edgar Allan Poe birthday party. We had brought Edgar Allan Poe to the library and the cardboard cut out of Edgar was on the couch reading his book.
- My favorite thing for this year was hanging out with friends. I do not always have time outside of school because I have a really busy life but seeing and hanging out with them in school is better than not seeing them at all.

- The assembly for Q3 was fun and I like how interactive it was and how students can play in games vs other students vs teachers.
- One of my favorite memories this year at Hickory Creek, was the assembly's. I love being able to sit down with the whole school, and to watch students and teachers having fun playing games, talking, and being their self. I think the assembly's here at HCMS, make tons of great, memorable experiences.
- One of my favorite memories this year was, when show choir was up and running, right around Christmas time, we did a Secret Santa for everyone, and everyone did the normal draw a name from a hat and get a gift for the person that you draw. That day that we gave everyone a gift was so heartwarming and so fun because everyone was just super happy that day and it also helps that show choir is just a big family same with musical, and that will be forever one of my favorite memories.

- The door decorating contest was fun because it was a competition and we got to do it as a whole class trying to work together.

- One of my favorite memories at the creek was when the LWSRA came for a PE takeover. I had so much fun with my friends, classmates, and the members of the LWSRA.

- One of my favorite memories of this school year was going on the holiday tour with the chorus and going bowling together; it was so much fun!
- Connecting with people through the year and getting to better know people. Making new friends and being better friends with people at school was truly the most memorable moments at Hickory Creek and I am so thankful for that.
