Lincoln School News
May/June
Message from Mrs. Zeman
Lincoln Families and Friends,
It has been wonderful getting to know the Lincoln community over the past week! There is awesome learning happening here, and we will continue growing and learning right up through the last day of school. This week it was fun to see some learning around the building: lifecycle with the planting and growing of seeds, shape hunts outdoors as we learn the attributes of shapes, and author’s perspective (to name a few things).
This week is educator appreciation week; we have amazing educators at Lincoln! The Lincoln PTO has found some really creative ways to thank the staff for all that they do for our students; we are thankful for all who participate in and support our PTO.
We are looking forward to finishing out the year strong!

On Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 the Lincoln 3rd-5th grade students will be participating in a Track Meet at OHS during the school day. Students will ride a bus to the high school track with their class and will participate in running events. The field events will take place at Lincoln during their PE times at a later date. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend our track and field event for their child at their designated grade level time. When their child is done competing, we are asking all family members to leave. We ask that parents come to the visitor (east) side bleachers, wear your mask and respect 6ft social distancing. For the safety of our students, all spectators should refrain from contact with the students during the track meet.
Students will be asked to wear their masks while they are not competing. When they are competing in their event, they will be allowed to take their masks off. Please be respectful of these special stipulations so we can run a safe and fun track meet for all of our students. We will try to get started on time and stick to the schedule of events below, please understand times are not exact, just an estimate. If the track meet is cancelled due to poor weather, it will be announced on KRFO radio and a school wide message will be sent out. If cancelled, the rain make-up date will be Thursday May 13th, or Friday May 14th.

Before School Interviews
Owatonna Public Schools is committed to creating strong student and family relationships and fostering a positive first experience. Students in grades K-5 will start next school year on Wednesday, September 1st to allow time for before school interviews to take place.
Before school interviews allow teachers to meet individually for 30-40 minutes with students and parents before the start of the school year. All kindergarten students will sign up for an individual 30-minute interview conference time on either Thursday, August 26th or Monday, August 30th. All students, grades 1st -5th, will sign up for an individual 40-minute interview conference time either on Thursday, August 26th, Monday, August 30th or Tuesday, August 31st.
Students will meet one on one with their teacher for approximately 40 minutes to learn more about them and assess their reading level. Parents will complete paperwork during this time. Following the teacher meeting, students will stop at stations to complete FASTBridge reading assessment and school pictures. Students in grades 1st and 4th will also complete their vision and hearing screening. The teachers are looking forward to getting to know your child better at the beginning of the year.
