Way to go Emilie!
We received an email from the MHSAA. They were relaying a letter sent to them from our opponent about one of our players. It was a letter of praise to appreciate a random act of kindness. While running ball for the JV game Emilie witnessed the referees telling a girl she couldn’t play because the cleats she was wearing were not within the regulations. Without missing a beat, Emilie asked the girl what size her shoe was and when she heard the size was similar to hers she removed her cleats and handed them to the girl so that she could participate.
Below is the letter written to the MHSAA about Emilie Peitsch -
“Hi Andy,
Here was the situation. I am coaching the JV girls team at Bay City Central this year. We had our first match against Hemlock on Monday. My girls are VERY inexperienced and many have never played soccer before. Coming from coaching the varsity the past 5 years, this has been interesting, to say the least. One of my girls went out onto the field and as she was playing, the referee realized she was not wearing cleats that are appropriate for soccer.
Understanding the situation he stopped play, brought her over to me, and explained. (He did not card me and for that, I was VERY grateful.
My player was crestfallen that she couldn't play. Since we played the second game, a varsity player from Hemlock was running the balls for our game. when she saw my player, she asked her shoe size and without hesitating took off her own cleats and gave them to my player to use. It was so impressive! She didn't have to do it. She was not asked, she just took it upon herself to give my beginning player the experience of playing in her first ever game.
Her name is Emily Pietsch (The spelling might be a bit off), and I want to make sure people know about the goodness seen in these young people.
Congratulations Katy!

4/17/19 - JV Soccer vs. Heritage - L (0-3) Alexis Guerrero had her toughest game in goal so far this season and came out with 22 saves. Our defense was tested and our defenders stepped up to the challenge with help from our midfielders. This game was a total team effort and we played very well together.
4/17/19 - V Soccer vs. Shepherd - W (7-1) Out possessing and out shooting the Blue Jays 37-3, Sierra Yell led the way with a hat trick scoring 3 of the Huskie goals. Emma Sollner had 2 goals and 2 assists, Madison Sutliff had 1 goal and Kali Jimenez had one goal coming from a PK. Hannah Near, Emilie Peitsch, and Abby Grossmeyer all contributed 1 assist. The Blue Jays lone goal came from a free kick 20 yards out. Great job by the mid field and the defense not allowing the Shepherd team to ever establish control, and holding them to only 2 shots during game play. Olivia Watson made the 2 saves in goal.
