Principal's Message

Big shout out to all of you for implementing a full week with our new schedule and MAP practice testing! I also want to thank you all for your constant feedback on how the administrative team can help make virtual learning more effective each week. This is how we continue to grow and give scholars the best education they deserve. We are in uncharted territory and definitely love to hear your ideas and pushes!

I have received numerous communication from families stating how pleased they are about what we are doing for scholars and as your principal, this makes me extremely happy! Read below for the latest parent shoutout. Know that you are doing an AMAZING JOB and creating a wonderful learning experience for our scholars!

Weekly Survey

Please take the Weekly Survey! Every time you take the survey, you are entered into a raffle for a $25 gift card that will be drawn at the end of the month. The more times you take the survey, the more times you are entered! (Shoutout to Danielle, Olivia, Jessica and Kevin for taking the survey last week!) We read through all surveys and take all feedback to help plan next steps in our year so please take a few minutes to fill it out.

Priority #1: Anti-Racism

DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion)

I hope you enjoyed the TECA PD on the 7 Cultural Dimensions! I really enjoyed my time with my group getting to share and learn more about our values and the relationship to the work we do on the K-2 team. As we can continue to celebrate diverse cultures, don’t forget to check out our Hispanic Heritage Month Plan here.

Deans of Academics

General Academic Deliverables

  1. Academic Pushes

    • Positive Tone: New Push: Since we are guests in our scholars’ homes virtually, we want to ensure that we have a positive tone with our kiddos. Kids are going to make mistakes; kids are going to forget materials; kids are going to receive consequences and grows; however our tone and how we deliver those directives still must retain a sense of warmth.

      • Continued Push: Habits of Discussion: When a scholar responds to a question, scholars should automatically agree/disagree/or add on. You can prompt them by shrugging your shoulders, or saying a keyword like “respond”.

  2. 1st and 2nd Grade Only: Map Presentation Linked. Please continue to reference this slide deck over the next 3 weeks.

  3. Materials Pick Up: Please have materials through Thanksgiving Break ready for parents to pick up by EOD Thursday, October 1st. Content planners should have received emails from Molly or myself already - please reach out with any questions or copying needs.

    • UPDATE: Kindergarten will still be making materials for all scholars in case a cohort must return to virtual learning.

    • Bags are in our office and more bags have been ordered by Wahidi.

    • For CKLA, we will send home both the necessary Skills Workbooks and the Knowledge Workbooks. We will still send home copies of the readers.

The EEP Truancy Policy in distance learning is being implemented and truancy letters have begun to go home. Thank you so much for posting your daily Attendance-Credit in Slack. This has been super helpful for our scholars to submit missed assignments.

Attendance Tracker

We are making a slight adjustment to our attendance tracking. We wanted to be able to focus on the classes with the top attendance for the week instead of by grade level. Shout out to the classes listed below! You will also see this reflected in this week's Monday Announcements!

Teacher Spotlight

Core Value - Achievement

Shout out Tiffany, Olivia, Macie, and Lauren for doing a fantastic job as our observation classes for our AF SIte Visit. The observations helped us norm on Phase 1 goals and set focus areas for our AF Math program. These ladies had 100% of scholars participating in the lesson, had strong use of HOD, and many other wonderful things!

~From Dr. P

Shout out to Ms. P’s math small groups are such a joyful place to be in as a sped teacher. I am always learning new tricks and skills that I take back to my small group. She makes every effort to include all students in the lesson and to support students where they are academically.
