KSVU Monthly Newsletter
October 2018
It's October - Happy Halloween!
I put a spell on you because you're mine
You better stop the things that you do
I ain't lyin', no, I ain't lyin'
I just can't stand it babe
The way you're always runnin' 'round
I just can't stand it, the way you always put me down
I put a spell on you because you're mine
-Screamin' Jay Hawkins
Break out the spooky Haunted Halloween Sound Effects records, put on your favorite horror films, and munch on all the candy that's supposed to be for the kids - its HALLOWEEN.
But first...
What happened in September?
Marcia Kester feat. Lil' Joe Argo performed @ Birdsview Brewery
On September 15th Marcia Kester (accompanied by Sandy Carter) & Lil' Joe Argo performed at Birdsview Brewery. Half of the proceeds from a sold during the performance benefitted KSVU!
A great big THANK YOU to Marcia, Lil' Joe, DJ Peter, and Bill & Sandy for their tremendous entertainment, to Birdsview Brewery for the venue for that entertainment, but especially to all the people who came, enjoyed, and supported the KSVU Fundraiser with your generosity and enthusiasm! Thanks to you all we were able to raise over $800 for the station!
We said Goodbye to Tex and Captain Jack!
DJ Tex, of Tex's Midmorning Mix, and one of the first DJs here at this station, has retired from the airwaves. His last show was on September 18th. His timeslot partner, Captain Jack, is also temporarily going off-air.
Join us in thanking both of them for everything they've done for the station, in wishing Tex the best of luck in all that he does next, and in hoping that Captain Jack returns to us soon!
Stay tuned for more information on the new DJ coming to that timeslot - they'll be starting on Oct. 2nd from 10am-noon.
What's happening in October?
8th Annual Harvest Fest & Halloween Dance!
Saturday Oct. 27th - the tradition continues!
We'll be back at the Marblemount Community Hall for a potluck, dancing, and community fun! Undecided and Jumbled Pie will return to help us dance the night away! Potluck starts at 6pm, and music is planned to start at 7pm. A Costume Contest for the kids will be held (but don't worry - they're all winners!) Suggested donations at the door are $8 for single adults, $15 for couples, $5 for teens, and kids 12 and under are free. Big thanks to DJ Ray Davis (For You Blue, Sundays 6-8pm) for our New T-Shirt Designs, which will debut at the dance!
The raffle and silent auction will be happening again this year, but we DO NEED HELP!
We need auction items as well as people willing to help us man these events!
We'll also always take volunteers for set-up/clean-up, or other general needs. If interested you can call us at 360-853-8588 and leave a message (with return phone number!) or you can send us an email at ksvu90.1fm@gmail.com.
This event is our major annual fundraiser for our all-volunteer station, so we need your help making it BIG.
Upriver Shenanigans with DJ Yo-Yo will now be an hour long!
By popular demand DJ Yo-Yo's timeslot has increased! Starting on Oct. 6th the show will run from 10-11am.
To stay up to date on all the shenanigans, follow DJ Yo-Yo on Facebook!
History Repeats Itself - new timeslot AND time increase!
New Shows! New Shows! New Shows!
We have two new shows incoming in November!
The new Concrete Boys & Girls Club will be hosting their own show in the first week of November. Shortly after, a new DJ will be bringing us a new informational show all about fishing, complete with the newest information fisher-folks need and guests!
This month with DJ Marren
The Inspirational Hour with Soul continues to look at our Higher Heritage and End Time prophecies, which include the returning of the Heavenly forces after the Tribulation. Topics include Pope Francis, the cover-ups of child sexual abuse, and fake alien invasions intended to scare the public and usher in the false Messiah to deceive the masses.
DJ Marren will be starting off the month of October with Gale from Day Creek taking about the importance of raising hens and providing for your family against the world-wide drought and food shortages.
On the second Saturday in DJ Marren and Debbie try a new Korean restaurant and talk to the owner. Timothy Grady joins Marren in exposing the shadow government and the conspiracies, planning and plotting related to it on the 3 and 4th Saturdays of October.
KSVU Can't Survive Without You!
Your donations keep the lights on and the transmitter going!
Turbulent seas may be in the forecast for KSVU and KSVR. Now, more than ever we need your support to pay our bills so that we can continue operating. As our usual funding sources run dry, we are in desperate need of recurring donations, volunteers, and folks with grant-writing and grant application knowledge. If you think you can help us, PLEASE contact the station via email, phone, or by dropping by in person!
