Dressing for Outdoor Recess and Lost and Found
Please send your child to school with hats, gloves, and even snow pants and boots once it gets snowy....we all know that can happen at a moment's notice in the Chicago area! We will get outside for recess/mask break as long as the "feels like" temperature (factoring air temperature and wind chill) is 10 degrees or above. Also, please practice with little ones to make sure they can put on their snow pants and boots independently.
Missing some cold weather items? Our Lost and Found located outside of the gym is overflowing with hoodies, hats, mittens, etc. Please remind your child to check for lost items. Thank you!
Congratulations to our Character Counts Winners This Week!
PTA Updates
Student Winter Wonderland Shop coming soon (12/21)!
We are excited to sponsor a Winter Wonderland shop this year! This year's Holiday/ Winter Wonderland shop will be held during school (like the book fair)so students have a chance to shop for themselves or their friends & family. Gift wrapping will be provided so that special purchases can be kept as a surprise.
More info coming soon- keep an eye out for ways you can help make this a great event for our students!
Winter Classroom Parties Coming Soon:
Our Winter classroom parties will be held during school Dec 22nd.
If you have any questions about classroom parties, want to make sure you are on the volunteer list, would like to help in the background even if you can't attend the party, etc please email wolfscrossingparties@gmail.com.
This year we have a new option to make celebrating the staff in your student's life super easy-
Check out this list of "Gift Crowd" links for some of our amazing staff members.
Welcome to "No Guesswork Giving"! Giftcrowd is a free service that makes it easy to pool money together to celebrate the special people in our student's lives.
Here's how it works:
Step 1: Follow the link for any staff members you want to give a gift to (Also consider our specials teachers, support staff, custodians/ front office, etc)
Step 2: Choose the amount you would like to give (There is no minimum gift- even $3- $5 from multiple people adds up quickly)
Step 3: The staff member will get to Choose what gift card(s) they want for the total amount they received- There are tons of choices (Target, Amazon, tons of restaurants, etc).
Other cool info:
* There are no fees- every dollar given goes straight to the staff member
* Staff members will get a list of everyone who contributed to the gift (but it will not show the individual contribution amounts).
We are excited for families to have an easy way to celebrate all the people who make a big difference in our student's lives every day!
Staff Wish Lists
Another easy way to celebrate our staff this year is by shopping off their Amazon wish list-
Some of our staff have Amazon wish lists that make it super easy to know what they want, need, are wishing for, etc for their students.
The wish lists make it easy peasy to send stuff directly to the staff member and you know it will be something they actually want :-) Now is a great time to check out the lists and maybe bring something with to conferences or as a Thanksgiving thankful gift or holiday gift.
Check out the list of wish lists here
What's next?
We would love your help planning our next events! Please email us at ptawolfscrossing@gmail.com and we can get you hooked up with the right committee to help with our winter/ holiday events, classroom parties, VIP night, etc
“A Book is a Present You Can Open Again and Again”
The Wolf’s Crossing Birthday Book Club is fun way to celebrate your child’s birthday and fill our library with great books for all students to enjoy. In honor of your child’s birthday (or half birthday), we invite you to donate a book of your choosing to our school library. Your child can choose to donate their favorite picture book (hardcover), chapter book, or non-fiction book (hardcover).
It’s as easy as 1-2-3
Donate
Simply purchase a book (hard cover only) to donate to the LRC and have your child bring the book and Birthday Book Club form to school at least 2 weeks before their birthday to the LRC. You may pick from our Amazon Book Wishlist, if you want some ideas of books our library needs.
Not sure what title to donate? Let us choose for your child! Send in $15 (the average cost of a hardback book) and we will purchase a new book for them. Your child may suggest a book they have wanted to read or we can help choose a new title that our library needs.
Celebrate
We will place a commemorative sticker with your child’s name in the front of the book.
Your child gets to be the first one to check out the book from the LRC.
A picture of your student with their book will be shared on the Wolf’s Crossing Facebook Page and the Wolfs Crossing Lrc Wolverines Facebook Page to also celebrate.
Joy!
As the year passes, your child will enjoy seeing other students check out “their” book from the LRC.
If you would like to join the Birthday Book Club, please complete the Birthday Book Club form and return it to the Wolf’s Crossing LRC with a book of your choosing or your check for $15 as soon as possible. Please make checks payable to Wolf’s Crossing Elementary. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Mahoney, LRC Specialist at 630-636-3703 or email at cmahoney@sd308.org .
Thank you for supporting our Library!
