Bobcat Bulletin
Week of February 1st
From the Desk of Mrs. Schmid
Hello Bobcat Families,
THANK YOU--because of your support, we have successfully transitioned completely over to our hybrid schedule for all of our grade levels! It has been so wonderful seeing the school alive again with K-5 students! No matter where your child is learning from, we hope the transition to the new schedule has come with limited bumps. If you need support with navigating the new schedule, please reach out to your child's teacher.
As a reminder, our Monday schedule has not changed and remains all remote. We look forward to a great week ahead!
Respectfully,
Keeley Schmid
Principal

Winter Benchmarking is in Progress
We successfully assessed our Kindergarten and 1st grade students last week! Any students who were absent, will be tested this week during makeups.
This week we begin assessments for our 2nd-5th grade students. If your student attends school in-person, your child should come to school with his/her Chromebook as well as headphones.
For our remote learners, we appreciate your continued support in providing a space for learning that is free of distractions and allows for your child to do his/her best. It is important your child is not given any support during these assessments.
We look forward to reviewing the data collected during our winter benchmarking in matching instructional supports for our students. Our winter intervention groups will begin on 2/10.

Yearbook/School Portraits
Never fear, our amazing PTA is here with a backup plan just in case! Thank you to chairperson Ms. Annie Nell for all her creative thinking and problem solving to ensure the yearbook still remains an important treasure in an unprecedented year! Please see the information below:
WE NEED YOUR YEARBOOK PORTAITS!
At this time, we are unsure if HR Imaging will be allowed on campus to take portraits this year. As the yearbook committee moves forward to create a yearbook, we are asking ALL parents to please send in a photo of their student(s). Please see the linked flyer to see how easy this can be done and some helpful tips on how to take a great picture. Any questions, please email brookdaleyearbook@gmail.com

We are excited to announce an award-winning science experience coming to Brookdale for our annual STEAM Night celebration on Friday, February 19 at 6:30pm! Join Brookdale PTA as we host this LIVE virtual event featuring the team from Science Explorers. A real “mad scientist” will demo a series of fun experiments, then lead families through a hands-on “build-your-own” science experiment!
Kits for the science experiment can be purchased for $35 per family (enough materials for up to 2 projects). Additional materials can be purchased for $15 more. Kits will include everything families need to build their own spin art machines! Note: this is an optional event with limited kits – hurry and reserve your kit(s) today! Plus, $5 from each kit sold will be donated to Brookdale PTA to ensure we can bring more educational events and dynamic programming to our students in the future!
